Fern Irene Seidt, 93, formerly of Basket Road, Oley, died February 8, 2016 in the Highlands at Wyomissing.

She was the widow of Frederick E. “Fritz” Seidt, who died May 20, 1978.

Born in Robeson Township, on September 21, 1922, shewas a daughter of the late Heber D. and Susan R. (Hoch) Keinard.

Fern was employed as a secretary for 20 years with Birdsboro Steel Corporatio­n, before retiring in 1965.

She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Spangsvill­e and a member of the Church’s Women’s Guild.

Fern was a 1940 graduate of Birdsboro High School and was a member of their Alumni Associatio­n.

She is survived by a step-daughter, Sharon (Seidt), wife of J. Randall Gibbons of Oley, and two sisters, Anna (Keinard), widow of Chuck Botting of Hatboro, and June (Keinard), widow of Richard Himes of Pottstown.

Fern is also survived by a grandson, Joshua Gibbons of Oley; a nephew, Thomas R., husband of Margaret (Wentzel) Himes of Clarks Summit and nieces, Heather A. (Himes), wife of Stanley Lilienthal of Skippack, and Fern L. (Himes), wife of Randall Detwiler of Spring City, and several great nieces and great nephews.

Shewas predecease­d by a brother, Leonard Henry Keinard, and two nieces, Susan Gallant and Donna Ayres.

Services will be held Friday, February 12 at 10:30 a.m. in Salem United Church of Christ, 307 Covered Bridge Road, (Spangsvill­e), Oley, PA 19547. A viewing will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the Church.

Burial will be in Oley Cemetery, Spangsvill­e.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­onsmay bemade to the Church at the above address.
