On the weekend of Feb. 6,7,8, I thought I smelled the water as I was brushing my teeth. Since I have almost no sense of smell, lost that working in industry, I asked the neighbor. They said, “Yes, it’s terrible, the chlorine was just horrendous in this water.” What’s going on at the water department, any clues?

Hey North Coventry, for the amount of taxes that I’m paying, if you could fix some of these potholes like the one on Sheephill Road that almost took my front end off. - Disgusted

This is to John from Mont Clare. You know that little voice in your head, well I like to speak my mind because it hurts when I bite my tongue. - J

It is pretty sad when sitting in a much smaller Spring-Ford gym people say the reason the larger Pottstown High School gym doesn’t hold PAC-10 championships is because the schools don’t want to come into Pottstown. Seniors, maybe we should be talking about this instead of the taxes forcing us out of our homes. Open for opinion.

Industry in Pottstown folded when union workers started wanting $20plus an hour with benefits that they didn’t want to pay much for. The companies were barely turning a profit so of course it was more cost effective to close shop and head to Mexico.

Please keep them in your hearts and say a good prayer for the U.S. Air Force ground troops, the best rated in the world, who are being deployed in the next three weeks. - John from Mont Clare

It would be nice if someone from Save the Lights campaign would let us know how close we are to reaching our goal to save the lights, to get the lights back at the field. Proud donor. - Craig, Class of ‘84

High Street is considered a state road therefore all snow removal is the responsibility of Penn-DOT not Pottstown Borough.

This is for KM. You got the idea but you missed the point as far as Donald Trump and his veterans donation. You might want to start watching RT News. I think it’s on Comcast 263. Might enlighten you a little bit.

Can anyone please tell me where the seniors are located to get the taxes done?

Kudos to Phoenixville physics teacher Jay Jennings and his physics team for overcoming the huge hurtles against some of the most prestigious schools in the world. Phoenixville physics team took first in preliminary “physics fights” and third in tourney finals. Way to go Phoenixville. So proud of you.

After viewing both Republican and Democratic debates it wasn’t hard for me to figure out why the Democrats have won four of the last five presidential elections. The Republican Party has routinely spoken to a small part of our country. The Democrats speak to the majority of the population that has made this country what it is today. If I were a betting man I would bet on the Democratic strategy every time. Can’t beat those odds. - KM

Reading the Sound Off messages I just have to laugh about the argument about the cost of bread and milk and all these other things back 35 or 65 years ago. I just have to ask these people one question—do they remember when they were making 25 cents an hour when these

prices were 16 cents a loaf?

I think it’s time for the people in this country to get serious about this presidential thing. We have one person that knows every vulgar word to use. We have another person that lies about almost everything and then we have a socialist, and these are the people getting all the attention. What kind of country do we really have here if those are the kind of people that we’re going to elect for a president?

Regarding the item about Donald Trump raising $6 million for veterans, that’s true but the news media are indicating that apparently the veterans’ associations that he raised the money for walked away from it and turned it down. I can’t believe that they really did that.

For the person saying about unions bringing jobs to Pottstown and so forth, it is the unions that destroyed the jobs and also the steel industry especially in Phoenixville. The unions did not bring any jobs, but killed them.

Hey Eagle fans let’s give congratulations to the Denver Broncos for winning the Super Bowl. By the way this is their third Super Bowl championship in their history. They’ve been around since 1960. And by the way that’s the last time you Eagle fans celebrated a championship with your football team. So as you always say, “Maybe next year” even though now it’s only 55 years and counting. -Al Sound Off is a forum to spur dialogue from residents of the communities we serve on topics of interest in those communities.
