A 14-year- old girl pleaded guilty Thursday to first degree murder charges in the stabbing death of her mother last year.

Jamie Silvonek, formerly of 1516 Randi Lane, Upper Macungie, pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree murder, criminal conspiracy, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence after she was charged in March 2015 with the murder of her mother, Cheryl L. Silvonek.

A press release Thursday from the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office stated the following:

On March 15, 2015, Cheryl Silvonek’s body was found buried under dirt and snow in the 5700 block of Haasdahl Road in South Whitehall Township. Her death was ruled a homicide after Coroner Scott Grim performed an autopsy that showed multiple stab wounds on her neck, head and torso, authorities said.

At the plea and sentencing hearing, Senior Deputy District Attorney Jeffrey Dimmig summarized the prosecution’s case.

Dimmig explained that in October 2014, Jamie, who was at the time 13 years old, met Barnes, who was then 20 years old, at a concert in Philadelphia and told Barnes that she was 16. The two later started seeing each other.

The mother discovered Jamie with Barnes in the basement of her home on March 7, 2015 and upon realizing that Barnes was 20, told Jamie to end the relationship.

Barnes then returned to Fort Meade, Md., where he was stationed in the Army.

That evening Jamie and Barnes discussed via a cell phone conversation how to go about killing Jamie’s parents. The two allegedly discussed luring her parents away from their home to a place where Barnes could kill them and rejoin Jamie to dispose of the bodies, according to authorities.
