Reading takes 7-6 win over New Hampshire

READING, PA. >> Jake Fox homered twice and had three hits, and Mark Leiter allowed just three hits over 6 1/3 innings as the Reading Fightin Phils defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 7-6 on Sunday.

Miguel Nunez allowed two runs, but struck Roemon Fields out with a runner on third to end the game for his 17th save of the season.

Leiter allowed three runs while striking out four and walking two.

Trailing 4-0 in the seventh, New Hampshire tied the game when Rowdy Tellez hit a solo home run and Emilio Guerrero hit a three-run home run.

Following the big inning, the Fightin Phils grabbed the lead in the eighth inning when Angelo Mora drew a bases-loaded walk and Christian Marrero hit a two-run single.

The Fisher Cats saw their comeback attempt come up short after Ian Parmley hit a two-run triple in the ninth inning to cut the Reading lead to 7-6.

Jesen Therrien (1-0) got the win in relief while John Stilson (4-1) took the loss in the Eastern League game.

Guerrero homered and singled, driving in three runs and scoring a pair for the Fisher Cats.

Lively, Feathersto­n spur Lehigh Valley to 5-2 win over Buffalo IRONPIGS 5, BISONS 2 >> Taylor Feathersto­n doubled twice and singled, and Ben Lively allowed just two hits over five innings as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs beat the Buffalo Bisons.

Lively (10-5) allowed one run while striking out seven and walking one to get the win.

Lehigh Valley took a 4-1 lead in the third after Brock Stassi hit a two-run double.

Following the big inning, the Bisons cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Matt Dominguez hit an RBI single, scoring Darrell Ceciliani.

The IronPigs tacked on another run in the eighth when Feathersto­n hit an RBI double, bringing home Stassi.

Mike Bolsinger (1-4) went five innings, allowing four runs and seven hits in the Internatio­nal League game. He also struck out eight and walked two. Luis Garcia pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings for his 11th save of the season.
