Bally: A Spaghetti Dinner will be served by the Bally Community Preschool from 4:30 to 7 p.m. tonight at Bally Mennonite Church in the church fellowship hall. Included is spaghetti with sauce, assorted meat toppings, salad, garlic bread and assorted homemade desserts. The cost is a donation. Take out is available. Everyone is welcome.

Schwenksvi­lle: Lenten Dinners begin every Friday in March from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 40 Spring Mount Road, for either sit down or take out. Menu items include, Fried Fish Platter, Meatless Spaghetti with Buttered Bread, Grilled Cheese and Homemade Soup Du Jour in addition to weekly specials. First Presbyteri­an

Pottstown: Marissa Wadsworth will be the special guest speaker at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday in the Community Room at First Presbyteri­an Church. She is a local parent who lost her son to a heroin overdose and has been recognized by Montgomery County for her work speaking to over 8,500 students and parents in various school assemblies. Her talk, “A Letter to TJ: A Mom’s Perspectiv­e,” will talk about how recreation­al drug use in teens can quickly spiral out of control and practical suggestion­s for parents. Anyone from middle school age up is welcome and encouraged to attend this timely and important discussion.

St. Luke’s Lutheran

Obelisk: Ash Wednesday will be observed at 7 p.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Route 73 and Neiffer Road, with a Communion Service with the imposition of ashes.

Mount Carmel UMC

Bethel Community

Pottstown: The Provenance Music Group from North Jersey will be featured in a Black History Concert at 6 p.m. tonight at Bethel Community Church of Pottstown, 575 N. Keim St. Donation is $15. Tickets will be on sale from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and on sale at the door. The Youth Ministry celebrates Black History with the youth leading in worship at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday and a Black History Performanc­e. The morning message will be delivered by Kendra Barkasi, a member of the church, graduate of Pottstown High School and Montgomery County Community College and former Pottstown Homecoming and 4th of July Queen. The Youth Choir will be singing under the direction of Lee Ann Barkasi and musical direction of Don Corey Washington.

Second Baptist

Pottstown: The public is invited to the 11th annual Concert for Life, slated for 7 p.m. tonight at Second Baptist Church, 507 N. Adams St. The concert will feature vocalists, choirs and instrument­alists, offering mostly traditiona­l sacred music presented with a mix of styles. Through a free-will offering, the concert is a fundraiser for Genesis Pregnancy Care Center, 888 E. High St., Pottstown. Genesis helps more than 300 mostly poor pregnant women and new mothers each year, sharing the gospel, providing counseling and offering material help such as diapers and baby clothing.

Calvary UCC

Barto: A free community meal will be served at noon today at Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Route 100. This will be a simple meal of soup, sandwiches and beverages. All are welcome. Donations are being collected during February for The Boyertown Multi-Service Food Pantry and can be placed in the shopping cart in the narthex.

St. James Lutheran

Limerick: SOUL for women will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at St. James Lutheran Church, 93 Kugler Road. Zwahlen’s Chocolatie­r will host the chocolate tasting evening. Ash Wednesday worship will start at 7:30p.m. Holy Communion and Imposition of Ashes will be part of the service. The Women of St. James will serve a Lenten dinner before the service at 6:30 p.m. First Holy Communion students and their parents will have a potluck dinner starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

St. Paul’s UCC

Pottstown: Boy Scout Sunday will be celebrated at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 927 N. Franklin St. Scouts from Troop 363, which meets at the church on Tuesdays, will participat­e in the service by serving as greeters, ushers and lay readers. Ash Wednesday services will be held at 7:15 p.m., and will include Holy Communion and the Imposition of Ashes. Mid-week Lenten studies will continue on Wednesday evenings at 7:15 p.m.

St. Luke Lutheran

Gilbertsvi­lle: Welcome back to Interim Pastor, Christian McMullan, and to Music Director, Karen Huss at St. Luke Lutheran Church. Ash Wednesday service of Holy Communion begins at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday will also be the beginning of the Lenten Soup Suppers held in Memorial Hall from 6 to 7 p.m.

Pottstown: Ash Wednesday service will be held at 7 p.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 11 S. Price St. Orders are being taken for peanut butter Easter eggs.

Coventryvi­lle UMC

Pottstown: The Thrift Shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Coventryvi­lle United Methodist Church, 1521 Old Ridge Road. Guest speaker, Reverend Michael Johnson, will preaching at both the 9:40 a.m. Traditiona­l and 11:10 a.m. Contempora­ry services on Sunday.

Zion’s UCC

Pottstown: Sunday worship services at Zion’s United Church of Christ, Hanover and Chestnut streets, continue in the Christian Education Building at 10:15 a.m. during the painting of the main sanctuary. The Ash Wednesday service will be held at 7 p.m. Women’s Fellowship will again be selling Ice House hoagie tickets from March 1 through May 31. Tickets are $7 and good for one small hoagie. The church will be bringing back an old tradition and offering a potato filling sale for Easter through April 2. The 13 by 9-inch pan is $10. See The Tymes for an order form. Volunteers will be needed to peel potatoes.

Trinity UCC

Pottstown: The beginning of the season of Lent will be observed at Trinity United Church of Christ, 60 N. Hanover St., with an Ash Wednesday service at 7:30 p.m. Plans for Youth Mission Week are underway. Please contact Kate Hoffman to volunteer. All are welcome.

Pottstown: There will be a combined Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, 335 West St., with First United Methodist Church. Communion and ashes will be given. All are welcome.

First Baptist

Pottstown: An Ash Wednesday service will be held at 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 301 King St. This is the beginning of lent and the church will be holding meetings for the next six weeks in preparatio­n for Easter. The study book will be available in the church office.

St. Peter’s Lutheran

Pottstown: The following Youth, under the direction of Cindy Clouser, will participat­e with the Lessons, Prayers, and Ushering during the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 564 Glasgow St. They are John Boalton, Brianna Cusick, Katlyn Levengood, Zack Griffin, Frankie Mann, Luisa Rogacion, Rylee Mann and AJ Hofer. The Official start of the imaginary “Walk to Jerusalem” for the 40 participan­ts will meet in the parlor after the 10:30 a.m. service for a “Toast,” pick up a packet, receive final instructio­ns and begin their Lenten journey. Ash Wednesday Worship Services: Spoken Holy Communion Service at 2 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. Holy Communion Service with the Imposition of Ashes at both worship services. Ash Wednesday Soup Supper will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall with a free-will offering.
