Visit historic Pottsgrove Manor, 100 W. King St., for an historical lecture which will open a new exhibit,

“Rise and Shine at the Manor,” at1 p.m. on Saturday. The exhibit will run through Nov. 5. Visitors will have a chance to meet Founding Father Benjamin Franklin, as portrayed by Bill Ochester, at 1 p.m. Learn about Franklin’s contributi­ons to everyday life, including the idea of Daylight Savings time. After the lecture, visitors can take a guided tour of Pottsgrove Manor and the new exhibit. See how the humble activities of daily life differed from, or were often remarkably similar to, the activities we are familiar with today. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is hosting a boating course

“About Boating Safely” on three consecutiv­e Mondays, March 27, April 3 and April 10 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Phoenixvil­le Federal Bank and Trust, 70 N. Lewis Road, in the lower conference room in back of building. Participan­ts must attend all three classes and pass an exam to receive a certificat­e. Topics include an introducti­on to boating, boating law, boat safety equipment, safe boating, navigation, boating problems, trailering and storing and protecting your boat. Fee is $35. Valley Park, New Mill Road, is hosting Bluebird Box Building at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, in the Main Pavilion. Bluebirds, a harbinger of spring, are busy scouting nesting locations, but are often out-competed or displaced by other bird species. Help the local bluebird population by creating a bird box unique to their needs. This workshop is intended for adults and families with children ages 8 and up. Participan­ts can assemble and paint a pre-cut bluebird box, which can be placed in a backyard. There is a $5 suggested donation per box for supplies. Participan­ts will use hammers and nails to build their box from a pre-cut design. All materials will be provided. Preregistr­ation prior to March 10 is required as seating is limited on a first come, first served basis. To register call 610-666-5371. Rain date is March 25.
