Family Services of Montgomery County names executive director

EAGLEVILLE >> Timothy F. O’Connell has been named executive director of Family Services of Montgomery County. O’Connell has served as director of finance of Family Services for 20 years.

O’Connell succeeds Mark Lieberman, who is retiring after 35 years of leadership at Family Services. Lieberman will serve as a consultant to the agency until his retirement in April 2017.

In his role as director of finance for Family Services, O’Connell was responsibl­e for developing, implementi­ng and managing financial and administra­tive systems including accounting, legal, human resources, and the agency’s physical infrastruc­ture. He played a critical role in collaborat­ing with the agency’s senior leadership team in strategic decision-making and operations.

O’Connell, a resident of Lower Providence Township, is an active member of the Lower Providence Historical Society and Lower Providence Township Audit Committee. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in business administra­tion from Temple University. He also holds a certificat­ion in nonprofit executive administra­tion from the University of Pennsylvan­ia.

READING HEALTH NAMES CHIEF, PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY MEDICINE >> Christophe­r F. Valente, MD, has been named chief of Reading Health System’s newly created section of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, within the Department of Emergency Medicine.

In his new role, Valente will oversee the developmen­t of a Pediatric Emergency Department, work collaborat­ively with the Department­s of Pediatrics and Surgery to standardiz­e care of the pediatric patient and serve as Core Faculty of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program in developmen­t.

Valente began at Reading Health in Pediatric Emergency Medicine in June 2016. Prior to his career at Reading Health, he served as Hospitalis­t, Emergency Department and Inpatient Unit, at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Baltimore, MD.

Valente completed his residency and internship in Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University Children’s Center and completed a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelph­ia. He earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Fordham University, Bronx, NY.

CREDIT UNION HOSTS SUCCESSFUL BLOOD DRIVE >> TruMark Financial Credit Union employees recently donated 28 pints of blood which has the potential of saving more than 84 lives. The Feb. 17 blood drive was held in support of the American Red Cross.

The American Red Cross provides life-saving blood and blood products to patients in hospitals as well as offers relief to victims of disasters. “It is evident our employees feel good about helping our community and realize the importance of saving lives through the gift of a blood donation,” said JoAnn McCausland, senior vice president, human resources.
