Drug, alcohol violations top crimes in borough

Eight incidents involving drug and alcohol violations were reported to police, according to a crime-mapping site.

POTTSTOWN >> Drug and alcohol violations were the most reported crime in Pottstown over the past week.

According to crimemappi­ng.com, a police-run website used to inform the public about crime in their area, drug and alcohol violations were reported eight times since March 7. Public drunkennes­s was reported four times on the 200 block of Shoemaker Road, the 1000 block of East High Street and unspecifie­d block of east and west High Street. The remaining four incidents were reports of drug possession on North Warren Street, Moser Drive, East High Street and Robinson Street.

Theft was reported three times in the past week including two thefts from buildings on the 600 block of East High Street and the 800 block of Queen Street. A retail theft was also reported on the 200 block of Shoemaker Road.

Vandalism was also reported three times over the past week including two incident of criminal mischief to vehicles on Beech Street and the 100 block of East High Street. Criminal mischief to buildings was also reported on the 300 block of North York Street.

Robbery, burglary, fraud and assault were each reported twice since March 7. Assaults involving knives were reported on the 200 block of Johnson Street and the 700 block of Walnut Street. Fraud was reported on East Second Street and the 300 block of North Evans Street while two burglaries were reported on East Second Street and the 600 block of East High Street. Armed robberies were also reported on Queen Street and the 600 block of High Street.
