Dolores Marie Saboe (Gallagher), 84, of Trooper, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday March 12, 2017 surrounded by her many loved ones. She was the very beloved wife of Joseph C. Saboe, to whom she was married on May 3, 1952.

Born on July 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late John Hugh and Mary Agnes (O’Connor) Gallagher. Dolores graduated from Saint Patrick’s High school in 1951.

In addition to her parents, Dolores was predeceased by her grandson Brendan Saboe and brothers Jack and George Gallagher, brother in laws, Michael and Francis Saboe and sister in law, Marilyn Saboe. Dolores is survived by her husband, Joseph of Trooper, PA; her brother and sister in law Ret Col Gerald “Bud” (Ethel) Gallagher of Bartlett, TN, sister in laws, Jean Middleton (George) of Oaks, PA, Rita Saboe (Michael) of Trumbull, CT, Margaret “Peggy” (Francis) of Gretna, LA and brother in law, James Saboe (Marilyn) of Ellicott City MD. Dolores first met her devoted husband Joseph at the early age of 3 and by 16 knew he was the “love of her life”. At 19, then a beautiful red headed, blue eyed woman, she married Joseph at St. Augustine’s Church in Bridgeport PA. There was special magic in this “mixed marriage” of Irish/Slovak heritage that allowed the beauty of her quick wit, humor, talents and tenderness to blossom into a truly remarkable expression of lifelong love as wife and mother. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year.

Dolores was a devoted catholic and faithful parishioner of Our Mother of Sorrows parish in Bridgeport. She devoted herself to God and her family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dolores was an accomplished pianist, poet and baker. She made every holiday extra special whether it was Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Halloween or St. Patrick’s Day with her special poems, delicious meals, and household decorations. While always expressing her particular fondness for all things Irish, Dolores always celebrated the Slovak traditions in honor of her husband, Joseph, and his heritage. Over the years, Dolores loved hosting family and friends from countries across the globe within her home, leaving all she touched feeling welcomed into her family, and extra special from having met her.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewings on Thursday evening from 7p.m. until 9 p.m. and Friday morning from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m at The Bernard S.
