Stanley L. ‘Spike’ Emery Jr., 88, of Pottstown

Stanley L. “Spike” Emery Jr., 88, of Pottstown, PA, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Manatawny Manor, East Coventry Twp.

Born in Pottstown, PA, he was a son of the late Stanley L. Emery Sr. and Gertrude B. (Seeders) Emery.

Stanley was a Pottstown High School graduate of the class of 1946. He was employed by Pottstown Plating Works and later as a draftsman checker with the former Sanders & Thomas for 40 years. He was a lifetime member of Zions United Church of Christ. Stanley was often seen playing the organ at Sunnybrook, the former First Federal Building and many other places. He had played in the Warren Lewars Band, as well as the Don Garrell Band.

He was a member of Stichter Lodge #254, Pottstown, and the Reading Consistory where he sang in the choir.

Surviving is one son, Steven T. Emery and his wife Kimberly, Gilbertsville; three daughters, Jill A. wife of Joseph Borysowski, Pottstown; Janice E. wife of Brian Lee Jr., Gilbertsville; Joan L. wife of Joseph Palubinsky, Reading; eight grandchildren, Ann, Eric, Jean, Mike, Angela, Jared, Austin, and Colin, and three great-grandchildren, Julian, Kaelyn, Ziona. Stanley was the companion of the late Mary Jane Batten for 26 years.

There will be a viewing from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, 359 King St., Pottstown, followed by Masonic Services at 11:00 am, and the funeral service to follow. Officiating will be Reverend Christine Pfiffer-Foot. Burial will be private in Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown.
