In Loving Memory of Connley D. Wise (Chief)

-

Connley Dean Wise (Fondly called Chief by his family) began his earthly journey in Los Angeles, California on September 27, 1949. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Edward D. Ward, Mrs. Erma J. Ward and Mr. Luther Robert Wise and his youngest brother, Reginald Wise.

At an early age, Connley was baptized at Ocean View Baptist Church in Seaside, California by Rev. G. E. Ellis. His parents relocated to Pottstown where he was active in church ministries at Second Baptist Church.

After graduating from Pottstown High School, Connley served in the U.S. Army for three years. He returned to Pottstown and worked at CABOT, (aka Global Advanced Metals) for 41 years. He was blessed to share those years with his brother and best friend, Charles (Ernie). Since retiring, Connley could be found under the hood of a car or doing handyman jobs such as plumbing, carpentry and painting. He was known for his willingness to help others. He also practiced “Master Chef” culinary skills to the delight and enjoyment of his family.

Connley was an avid sportsman. He found time for hunting, fishing (especially deep sea fishing), golfing, bowling, playing horseshoes and pool. He was driven to win! He enjoyed playing the daily lottery and had good fortune.

Connley loved his family and said his greatest blessings were his wife and children of whom he was very proud. He was always there to provide support, a listening ear and unconditional love.

On March 22, 2017 after fighting the “good fight”, Connley with his love for all, no longer wanted his devoted wife, children and family to worry about him. Chief dosed-off and dreamed of a new home, not made with hands. He left his family and friends to continue their earthly journey without his physical presence, but with hearts full of fond and happy memories of him.

Connley leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of more than 32 years, Mary (Jackson), children Danielle Martin (Rev. Ernest) of Douglassville, Lamont Walton, Mia Wise, Heather Wise, Phoebe Kancianci (Daniel) all of Pottstown, Christine Wise of Florida and Angela Wise of Philadelphia; 16 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren. He is survived by two stepmothers, Louise Wise, Alexandria, LA and Myrtle Ward, Pottstown; his brothers Charles Ernest Wise, Sr. (Leanne) of Pottstown, George M. Wise (Gwen) of Emmaus, Jerry Hargrove of Pottstown, Raynal Wise of California and sisters, Donna M. Cheatham (James) of Harrisburg, Gwen Garrett of Tennessee and Oscerine Young of Pottstown; and a devoted brother-in-law, James (aka Pete) Jackson (Penny) of Pottstown and sister-in-law, Annie Jackson of Philadelphia. He is also survived by his maternal aunt and uncle, Eunice and Granville Carter of Riverside, CA and paternal aunts Olivia Wise of Alabama, Gloria Wise and Gwen Wise of California.
