Man faces prison for illegal drug activity
NORRISTOWN >> A Norristown man faces up to five years in state prison now that he’s been convicted of trafficking heroin in the area.
Mark Steven Williams Jr., 26, of the 500 block of Cherry Street, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 2½ to five years in a state correctional facility after he pleaded guilty to a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver heroin or oxycodone in connection with incidents that occurred in September 2016. The sentence was imposed by Judge Gail A. Weilheimer as part of a plea agreement.
An investigation of Williams began in September 2016 when a confidential source provided information to police that Williams was involved in the illegal distribution of drugs, specifically heroin and the prescription pain medication oxycodone, from his Cherry Street residence, according to the criminal complaint. Authorities then conducted undercover purchases of controlled substances from Williams, court documents indicate.
During one controlled drug buy in September 2016, Williams met an undercover agent at a location in Upper Merion and delivered several clear blue bags of a powdery substance that was later revealed to be heroin, according to the criminal complaint. The drug transaction was recorded by authorities who had the meeting place under surveillance, the arrest affidavit indicated.
