Joseph J. Onufer, 69, of Pottstown

Joseph J. Onufer, 69, of Pottstown, formerly of Swedesburg, husband of the late Jane A. (Swan) Onufer, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Seasons Hospice.

Born in Norristown, he was the son of the late John J. and Louise D. (Dolga) Onufer.

Joe attended Sacred Heart School where he was an altar boy and then went to Upper Merion H.S. He worked at Alanwood Steel Co., Keystone Coke Co., and most recently Whitemarsh Twp. Sewer Dept. where he retired. Joe was an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing. He coached his children in all sports when they were kids and loved to go watch his grandchildren’s sporting events. Joe enjoyed taking rides in his truck with his faithful canine companion Lady.

Surviving are children John E. Onufer, husband of Patricia, Lisa A (Onufer) Major, wife of Robert, Randy W. Maguire, husband of Trisha, Nicole M. Miller, wife of Lee E., and Joelle L. Bieber, wife of Nathan; sister Pat McNamara; and grandchildren Robert and Matthew Major, Abigail, Valerie and Jacob Onufer, Kayla and Marissa Miller, Corinne, Weston and Keely Bieber and Taylor and Riley Maguire. Along with his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his beloved springer spaniel dog, Lady.

A funeral service will be Monday, April 10, 11:00Am at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Ltd., 329 N. Lewis Road, Royersford. Burial will follow in Limerick Garden of Memories. Visitation will be Monday from 9:30AM to 10:45AM at the funeral home.
