Bad behavior cancels annual Norco egg hunt
NORTH COVENTRY >> A popular area Easter egg hunt for children has been canceled because of “unruly crowds” at past events.
Norco Fire Company officials posted on Facebook they have opted to cancel the annual Easter egg hunt after several individuals caused problems in previous years.
“Unfortunately, due to the past years’ unruly crowds, we will not be having the egg hunt this year,” read the post. “We know that the majority of our community is not the problem, but we can’t risk injury to children because certain individuals can’t control themselves. We are hoping to try again at some point!”
Last year, the event drew hundreds to the lawn of Norco Fire Company as children hunted for eggs in groups organized by ages.
Calls to Norco Fire Company for details on the incidents leading to the decision to cancel this year’s event were not immediately answered.
Other Easter egg hunts will still be taking place in the area, however.
An egg hunt is scheduled at Althouse Arboretum, 1794 Gilbertsville Road, for this Saturday, April 8.
The event will take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and the cost is $5 per child.
Lower Pottsgrove Township will also be hosting its 16th Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday at Gerald Richards Park, between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Age groups will get the chance to hunt for eggs during specified times. The rain date will be April 15.
The Pottstown Church of the Nazarene will also be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 12 and under on April 15. The hunt will follow the children’s Easter story beginning at 11 a.m.
