Heckler, Methacton walk off against Phoenixvil­le in extras

Morgan Heckler’s first varsity hit came at an opportune time for the Methacton baseball team as his walkoff single in the bottom of the 10th inning led the Warriors to a 3-2 victory over visiting Phoenixvil­le Monday afternoon.

The Warriors pounded out eight hits in the extra-inning victory — two apiece from Connor Smith and Ben Christian — and relied on solid performanc­es on the bump from Josh Dubost and Zack Griffin. Dubost went the first six innings, allowing only two hits and one run (zero earned) while striking out four. Griffin got the win, tossing the next four innings and allowing three hits, one earned with no walks and three strikeouts.

Nick Opalkowski led the way with two hits for the Phantoms with Matt Osisek-Byrne performing well to start, tossing 4 2/3 innings with four strikeouts. UPPER PERKIOMEN 9, BOYERTOWN 8 >> Upper Perkiomen defeated the Bears on Monday thanks to a walk-off single by Trey Livingston­e.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Upper Perkiomen collected 11 hits and Boyertown eight.

Upper Perk evened things up at eight in the bottom of the sixth inning before winning it in the seventh.

Boyertown scored three runs in the second inning. The big inning for the Bears came thanks to a single by Tyler Kreitz, a single by Mitchell Peers, and another by Anthony Rota.

Nolan Graber earned the win for Upper Perk. He tossed 2-2/3 innings in relief, surrenderi­ng two runs, three hits, striking out four and walking zero. Noah Kurtz took the loss in relief for Boyertown. He threw one inning, surrenderi­ng two runs, three hits, striking out one, and walking none.

Brandon Reil, Brett Fullerton, and Brian Pijanowski each collected multiple hits for Upper Perk. OWEN J. ROBERTS 4, POTTSGROVE 1 >> Calvin Endy pitched a complete game where he scattered three hits while allowing one run (zero earned) and striking out two as the Wildcats downed the Falcons.

OJR finished with two hits in support of Endy, with Bobby Walker, Andrew Fisher, Austin Levengood and Josh Fulmer scoring runs.

Pottsgrove’s Lucas Stringer pitched effectivel­y in his four innings of relief, allowing five hits and one run while striking out two. VALLEY FORGE BAPTIST 11, WEST-MONT CHRISTIAN 1 >> Valley Forge Baptist overcame the Wings in a non-league contest.

SOFTBALL

SPRING-FORD 11, POPE JOHN PAUL II 1, 6 INNINGS >> The Rams’ 12-hit offense closed out a win over neighbor PJP in 6 innings with a five-run sixth.

Spring-Ford had two-hit days from Megan Kern (double), Maggie McConney (double), Sophia Cinti (two RBI), Julia Heine and winning pitcher Sam Lindsay (two RBI), who limited the Golden Panthers to one unearned run on five hits with four strikeouts.

PJP got multi-hit games from Amanda Butera and Alexandria Szpindor. BOYERTOWN 4, UPPER PERKIOMEN 3 >> The Bears got back-to-back home runs from Kody Streeter and Kylie Hertzler in a three-run fourth inning before scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

Allison Melahn got the win after 2-1/3 innings scoreless relief. Hertzler was 2-for-3 and Streeter drove in two runs. Upper Perk got two-hit games from Emily Moll and Karlee Fretz. PERKIOMEN VALLEY 10, UPPER MERION 0>> Abby Wild threw another five-inning no-hitter to lead the Vikings to a victory over Upper Merion.

Wild finished with 10 strikeouts and two walks in the win for PV, which received a three-hit performanc­e from Ashley Bangert (3-3 one run, RBI). Gillian Barrie went 2-for-4 with two RBI while Jess Ott had an inside-the-park home run. Sela Fusco tripled with Fiona Warren and Wild finishing with a double apiece. PHOENIXVIL­LE 13, METHACTON 0 >> The Phantoms exploded for 11 runs in the first inning en route to a victory over the Warriors via mercy rule.

Jess Anthony had two hits and a double for the Phantoms with Melissa Cappelli and Katie Rutledge adding two hits and a triple a piece.

Jess Eldridge pitched five shutout innings, allowing three hits with five strikeouts and one walk. OWEN J. ROBERTS 3, POTTSGROVE 0 >> Brittney Dellaquila threw a complete-game shutout while the Wildcats pounded out 10 hits en route to the win over the Falcons.

Casey Walker, Madison Twaddell and Emily Shaheen each finished with two hits in the win. Walker, Darby Stuart and Bridget Guinan each had an RBI.

Five different Falcons registered a hit in the loss. Rayna Markle took the loss in the circle. She struck out two.

BOYS LACROSSE

MARPLE NEWTOWN 12, BOYERTOWN 5 >> The Bears hung around in the first half before the Tigers outscored them 6-3 in the final half to take the nonleague victory.

Mason Turner, Alex Axman, Chris Moccia, Jason Clinton and Nick Moccia scored in the loss. Christian Hellriegel had an assist. GARNET VALLEY 9, OWEN J. ROBERTS 7 >> Denny Nealon had three goals to lead the Jaguars to a non-league victory over the Wildcats.

Noah Calle led OJR with a hat trick with Austin Koury providing a goal and two assists. J.C. Capaldo made 12 saves in the loss. HILL SCHOOL 17, PENNINGTON 4 >> With Colin Forrest and CJ Duvall dominating the faceoffs, Hill eased out to a 9-0 halftime lead and improved to 5-3.

The Blues’ scoring stars were Kevin Cummings (six goals, three assists) and Chase Taylor (three goals, four assists) while Nolan Smith and James Krick added three and two goals, respective­ly.

GIRLS LACROSSE

POPE JOHN PAUL II 19, POTTSGROVE 4 >> The Golden Panthers received a fivegoal effort from Monica Rapchinski and a four-goal game from Kylie Cherneskie to down the Falcons in league play.

Julia McLaughlin added three goals with Grace Cobaugh and Julia Latoff (two goals) each adding two in the victory.

Pottsgrove got three goals from Brooke Saylor and one from Allie Reppert.
