Boyertown’s Moyer wins No. 400

He’s certainly establishe­d himself as one of the greats in Boyertown baseball.

On Wednesday afternoon, head coach Todd Moyer took it a step further.

Moyer picked up career win No. 400 as head coach during the Bears’ 14-4 win over cross divisional foe Pottsgrove in a Pioneer Athletic Conference game.

Lead-off man Michael Raineri finished an impressive 5-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI while designated hitter Anthony Rota was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Collective­ly, the Beas finished with 13 hits from eight different players.

Early on, Moyer’s milestone win wasn’t a sure thing.

The Falcons scored three runs in the top of the first inning before the Bears responded with a two-run bottom half then followed with four more runs in the second inning.

Jared Waldman picked up the win before Grant Fronheiser came on in relief and held Pottsgrove to just one hit before gaining the final five outs.

Nick DeCurtis and Noah Rimel each finished with two hits and a run scored for Pottsgrove. PHOENIXVIL­LE 12, SPRINGFORD 11, 8 INN. >> Nick Opalkowski delivered a walk-off single to score Zach Masalski as the Phantoms completed the comeback and downed the Rams in PAC cross-divisional play.

Trailing 11-7 in the bottom of the bottom of the seventh, Phoenixvil­le rallied for four runs to force extras. Opalkowski finished with two hits and two RBI while Masalski finished 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Quinn Danna picked up the win on the mound, where he struck out five batter in two innings.

For Spring-Ford, Jake Kelchner (two runs, two RBI) and Sam Barletta (two runs) finished with two hits apiece. Nick Brauer had three RBIs. METHACTON 5, UPPER MERION 2 >> Patrick O’Neill picked up three hits and also earned the save during the Warriors crossover divisional clash with the Vikings.

O’Neill finished 3-for-4 with a home run while Jason Eckman finished 2-for-2 with a run scored. Jake Morello got the win on the mound, giving way to two hits and two runs (one earned) across 5-1/3 innings. Ray Scheier finished with two hits for UM out of the lead-off spot. POPE JOHN PAUL II 12, NORRISTOWN 2 >> Chris Sparacino and Matt Grim threw a combined one-hitter during the Golden Panthers crossdivis­ional win over the Eagles.

The pair went three innings apiece combining for 11 strikeouts. PJP racked up 12 hits, highlighte­d by Matt Ahmad’s two-hit showing. Colt Narciso finished with a double, a run scored and an RBI while Aidan McCarthy

finished with two RBI. Tyler Pastella finished with Norristown’s only hit. OWEN J. ROBERTS 10, POTTSTOWN 2 >> The top half of the Wildcats’ lineup compiled nine of the team’s 11 hits en route to a PAC divisional crossover win against the Trojans.

Lead-off man Andrew Fisher (two runs scored), Brian Siket (one run), Josh Fulmer (two runs, two RBIs) and Austin Levengood (three runs scored, two RBIs) each posted twohit games for OJR while Andy Blum scored a pair of runs. Dan Stofko pitched five complete innings in the win. FRIENDS CENTRAL 18, WESTMONT CHRISTIAN 3 >> The Wings dropped a non-conference matchup against Friends Central.

Girls lacrosse

METHACTON 11, POPE JOHN PAUL II 9 >> The Warriors received hat tricks from Anna Price and Sydney Tornetta as they came away with a come-from-behind victory over the Golden Panthers.

Jackie Cerchio (three assists) and Addy Borkowski (two assists) scored twice for Methacton, which outscored the Golden Panthers 6-3 in the second half after trailing 6-5. Rachel O’Toole made nine saves in net.

PJP’s Monica Rapchinski finished with a game-high six goals. SPRING-FORD 20, UPPER MERION 8 >> Jill Quigley scored five goals while Olivia Yeagle added four goals and two assists as the Rams made easy work of the Vikings in PAC play.

Cassie Marte and Natalie Wechter both added threegoal, one-assist games while Mackenzie Doyle added two goals and an assist. Anja Sweeney (one goal) finished with three assists for a Rams team that got sevensave goaltendin­g from Kamille Ward.

Francesca Lindelow led the Vikings with four goals. POTTSTOWN 11, MARPLE NEWTOWN 10 >> The Trojans came back from a twogoal halftime deficit to top the Tigers in a non-league showing.

Ebony Reddick led the way with nine goals and an assist for Pottstown, which also got a goal from Emily Iezzi (one assist) and Taylor Sundstrom.

Reilly Owens made 14 saves in net. OWEN J. ROBERTS 15, LOCUST VALLEY (N.Y.) 4 >> The Wildcats

jumped all over Locust Valley during a non-conference matchup played in Orlando Florida.

Anna Dempsey led the way with a game-high five goals and an assist while Eloise Gebert scored four times and notched an assist as OJR jumped out to a 9-2 lead by the half. Frankie Carroll registered a hat trick while Anna Lavelle scored twice and posted a pair of assists. Mia Tornetta and Cassie Micklesava­ge combined for the win in goal. HILL SCHOOL 14, MERCERSBUR­G 2 >> Nine different players lit up the scoreboard during the Blues’ MAPL win over the Storm.

Bree Gorman, Giavanna Tabarrini, Tatum Eccleston and Amanda Dupell scored two goals apiece while Liz MacMurray and Hannah Spease picked up their first career goals. Annie Carroll, Mariah Sweeney and Megan Mikuen combined for seven saves as Hill blanked Mercersbur­g in the second half. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 17, SOLEBURY SCHOOL 1 >> Hannah Chiesa and Mikayla Matthews scored six goals apiece during the Panthers’ non-conference win over Solebury.

Chiesa added two assists while Matthews had one. Emalee Walsh scored twice while Alex Campbell, Anne Coby and Zora Bissell each scored once.

Softball

OWEN J. ROBERTS 18, POTTSTOWN 3 >> The Wildcats pounded out 13 hits en route to a four-inning rout of the Trojans.

Camryn Glenn finished 2-for-2 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI out of the lead-off spot while Brittney Dellaquila had two hits and three RBIs. Ally Maupay picked up the win in the circle, yielding five hits and three runs in four innings. Katarina Kincade and Alivia Lopez hit doubles for Pottstown. METHACTON 7, UPPER MERION 1 >> Taylor Angelillis went 2-for-3 with two RBI while Sam Weil-Kaspar added three RBI and a double as the Warriors downed the Vikings in PAC play.

Ashley Narke got the win in the circle, striking out eight and allowing six hits in her seven innings of work.

Erica Triantafil­ou also had two RBI and a double in the win.

BOYERTOWN 5, POTTSGROVE 3 >> Sarah Reinert went 3-for-3 with two runs scored while Veronica Maryanski and Kylie Hertzler (double) added two RBI as the Bears defeated the Falcons in PAC play.

Emily Bradley got the win in the circle, tossing six innings while allowing three earned on seven hits.

Kira Livezey and Jay Dinnocenti (double) finished with two hits and an RBI for the Falcons, which finished with six errors in the loss. Rayna Markle took the loss in the circle despite her solid effort, allowing seven hits in her seven innings of work. POPE JOHN PAUL II 22, NORRISTOWN 0 >> Amanda Butera went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, a home run, and six RBIs as the Golden Panthers routed the Eagles in PAC play.

Ashley Remington finished with three doubles and two RBI in her 4-for-4 effort with Alexandra Szpindor adding two doubles and five RBIs. Gabby Simms finished 5-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored with Ashley Haggerty and Nicole Bowen (two RBI) adding two hits.

Szpindor got the win in the circle, striking out seven and allowing two hits in five innings of work. SPRING-FORD 11, PHOENIXVIL­LE 1 >> The Rams defeated the Phantoms in a cross-divisional matchup. HILL SCHOOL 2, ACADEMY OF NOTRE DAME 1 >> The Hill scored two runs in the fourth inning to overcome Academy of Notre Dame in a non-league showing.

Kylie McKee scored on a wild pitch and Meghan Dempsey scored on a single by Jane Auerbach to counter Notre Dame’s run in the third.

Meghan Dempsey got the win in the circle.

Boys lacrosse

SPRING-FORD 16, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 5 >> Tate Pijanowski and Danny Cassidy each scored four goals as the Rams routed CB South in a non-league showing.

The Rams, behind two goals from Jarod Marenger and Ryan Rosenblum, built a 10-1 advantage at the half before cruising the rest of the way. Spring-Ford outshot CB South 29-14 in the win and outnumbere­d its opposition in groundball­s, 29-15.

Kyle Pettine made eight saves in net for the Rams. NESHAMINY 12, BOYERTOWN

11 >> After tying the game at seven in the second half, the Bears weren’t able to find the net and tie the game in the last seconds of the game en route to a loss to the Redskins in non-league play.

Brady McFalls led the way for Boyertown with five goals with Christian Hellriegel (two assists) and Mason Turner each finishing with two goals. Jason Clinton and Carson Flint added a goal with Dan Yednock finishing with an assist and four groundball­s. HILL SCHOOL 14, MERCERSBUR­G 4 >> Kevin Cummings scored a game-high four goals while Chase Taylor, Jason Bram, Joseph Pickard, Wes Shaw and James Krick each added two goals as the Hill improved to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the MidAtlanti­c Prep League.

Drew Hutchinson made 11 saves in net with Jake Hutchison finishing with seven groundball­s. CJ Duvall won six faceoffs. QUAKERTOWN 15, PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 5 >> Perk School dropped a non-conference matchup against Quakertown.

Noah Abbas and Harrison Gavin each scored twice in the loss while Miles Longstreth finished with one goal.

Boys track

BOYERTOWN 85, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 63 >> Dominic DeRafelo dominated the distance events in helping the Bears handle the Vikings in their PAC Liberty Division meet.

DeRafelo took the 1,600 in 4:41.26 and the 3,200 in 10:05.42. Cole Peterlin was a two-event winner for PV in the long jump (18-1) and triple jump (38-2 1/2). PHOENIXVIL­LE 81, POPE JOHN PAUL II 59 >> Christian Schaaf and Matt Garcia each won two events to key the Phantoms’ PAC Frontier Division win over the Golden Panthers.

Schaaf won the 1,600 (4:54.18) and 3,200 while Garcia headed the 100 (11.61) and shot put (39-10). UPPER PERKIOMEN 81, UPPER MERION 65 >> Colby Hetrick topped the sprints to help the Indians win their PAC Frontier Division meet with the Vikings.

Hetrick got his firsts in the 100 (11.80 and 200 (24.2). He also ran a leg of UP’s winning 4x100 (47.8).

Girls track

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 110, BOYERTOWN 40 >> Jordan

Schlachta, Rebekah Bondi and Dorian Philpot each won two events as the Vikings ran away from the Bears in their PAC Liberty Division meet.

Schlachta got her firsts in the 300 intermedia­te (50.01) and 100 high hurdles, Bondi won the 100 (12.58) and long jump (17-61/2) and Philpot topped the discus (103-7) and Shot put (35-7). Gillian Kasitz scored a pair of firsts for Boyertown in the 1,600 (5:15.28) and 800 (2:22.82), as did Rebecca Hemingway in the 200 (27.39) and high jump (5-4). PHOENIXVIL­LE 75, POPE JOHN PAUL II 74 >> The Golden Panthers came up just short of the Phantoms in their PAC Frontier Division meet.

Bridget Plate had three wins for PJP (300 hurdles 49.99, 400 1:06.19, 100 hurdles 17.89), with Julia Costello adding firsts in the 1,600 (5:54) and 800 (2:34.9) and Jackie Lerro doing the same in the 100 (13.13) and 200 (27.26). But Phoenixvil­le had a 4914 advantage in the field events, aided by Ashlyn Duda’s two victories in the discus (93-8) and javelin (101-0). UPPER MERION 117, UPPER PERKIOMEN 28 >> The Vikings swept six individual events and the three relays to overrun the Indians in their PAC Frontier Division meet.

Kayleigh Durning accounted for UP’s lone win, a 16.9 run in the 100 high hurdles.

Boys Golf

HILL SCHOOL 153, FRIENDS’ CENTRAL 199 >> The Hill visited Bala Golf Club for the first time this season and fared well on the tight course.

Charlie Musto fired a two-under par round with Steinmetz following a twoover par. Joel Crooks, a JV player in the fall, also finished with a two-over par that included an eagle on his eighth hole.
