Joseph K. Sotter, 94, of Boyertown

Joseph K. Sotter, 94, of Boyertown; formerly of Pottstown, husband of Thelma A. (Astheimer) Sotter, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Manatawny Manor Nursing Home, Pottstown.

Born in Pottstown, PA, he was a son of the late Ernest D. Sotter and the late Bess M. (Mendenhall) Sotter.

Joseph was an insurance adjuster for Harleysville Insurance Co. for thirty eight years, retiring in 1987. He was also a parking control officer for the Pottstown Police Department for many years.

Joseph served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II.

He was a former member of Emmnauel Lutheran Church, Pottstown, and a member of New Hanover Lutheran Church, Gilbertsville.

Joseph played alto saxophone & clarinet in the Coast Guard band, and also played in the Pottstown Band and the Arlen Saylor band for many years. He was an avid hunter, and loved large caliber guns.

Surviving besides his wife is a son, Kennard Sotter, Barto; two daughters, Susan Gotta, Stafford, VA, Kristine Jones, Fredericksburg, VA; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Ryan, and a sister, Jane Tucker.

Services will be at a later date. There will be no viewing.
