Frances ‘Sadie’ Gauger, 91

Frances (Helfrich) “Sadie” Gauger, 91, of Pottstown, wife of the late Morris “Spike” Gauger, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.

Born in Pottstown, Chester County, she was the daughter of the late Anton and Marianna (Mantz) Helfrich.

Frances worked as a sewing machine operator. After retiring, she continued to sew Halloween costumes, quilts and anything else that needed to be created. She loved all crafts but was particularly fond of painting freehand pieces including Easter eggs and Christmas ornaments. She was also a member of Zions UCC Church in Pottstown.

Frances is survived by daughters Gail Ondo, wife of Michael P., of Gilbertsville and Janet Orr, wife of Scott, of Pottstown; grandsons Michael A. Ondo, husband of Colleen, Thomas Ondo, Joshua, Curtis and Colin Geiger; and great granddaughters Abigail, Marissa, and Samantha Ondo. Along with her husband and parents, she is predeceased by 3 brothers and 7 sisters.

A memorial service will be Friday, April 14, 11:30AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin Street, Pottstown. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00AM to 11:15AM at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Frances’s name to the Manatawny Manor Personal Care Activity Fund, 30 Old Schuylkill Rd., Pottstown, PA 19465.
