Man senteced for sex with underage girl

An 18-year-old man will be under court supervision for 6 years for sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl.

NORRISTOWN >> An 18-yearold Delaware County man will be under court supervision for about six years after he admitted to having sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl in Norristown.

Cornelius Lamar Jr., of the first block of Lakeview Circle, Ridley Park, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to four months already served to 23 months in jail after he pleaded guilty to a felony charge of statutory sexual assault in connection with incidents that occurred between June and September 2016 in Norristown.

Judge Steven T. O’Neill also ordered Lamar to complete four years’ probation following parole, meaning Lamar will be under court supervision for about six years. The judge also ordered that Lamar be supervised by the probation department’s sex offender unit and that he complete a communitybased sex offender treatment program. Lamar also must undergo a sexual history polygraph, according to court documents.

The judge ordered Lamar to have no contact with the victim or her family.

By pleading guilty to statutory sexual assault, Lamar admitted that he had sexual contact with a girl who was under 16 years of age and when he was four or more years older than the victim.

An investigation began in September 2016 when Norristown police took a report from the victim’s mother who had learned about the sexual contact between Lamar and her daughter, according to the criminal complaint. The girl subsequently was interviewed by detectives and disclosed that Lamar had sexual contact with her on two occasions while she was in his company at a Norristown location.

The girl told authorities that Lamar knew her age “and mentioned he was concerned about getting into trouble because he is 18 and she is 13 years old,” Norristown Detective Kathleen Kelly wrote in the arrest affidavit.
