Pottstown falls to PJP Golden Panthers 3-1

Pottsgrove’s baseball team crossed three runs in the top of the seventh inning Wednesday afternoon to claim a 5-3 Pioneer Athletic Conference Frontier Division win over Upper Merion.

Adam Girafalco (triple), Colin Templin (two RBIs), Alex Stump and Nick DeCurtis (two RBIs) each had multi-hit games as Pottsgrove racked up 10 hits. Noah Rimel picked up the win in relief, limiting UM to one run on four hits in 3-2/3 innings of work.

Mike Hutchinson was strong over the first six innings for Upper Merion, limiting Pottsgrove to five hits and two runs (one earned). Jonathan Eyer had a double and Matt Choi had a triple. Xanthopoul­os yielded just one walk while fanning nine in his pitching duel with Ben Christian (six hits, one earned run, two walks, eight strikeouts). Mitchell Peers drove in one of Boyertown’s runs, and Quinn Mason and Anthony Rota each went 2-for-3 as the game’s lone players to collect multiple hits. SPRING-FORD 11, NORRISTOWN 1 » The Rams used a by-committee approach to claim a PAC Liberty Division win over the Eagles.

Grant Calvarese, Cole Webb and Conor Larkin combined for a no-hitter in the win.

Softball

SPRING-FORD 10, NORRISTOWN­0» Bri Kelly and Sam Lindsay combined on a onehitter as the Rams downed the Eagles in six innings.

Lindsay struck out eight in her four innings of work in getting the win in the circle. She added two hits at the dish. Megan Kern, Maggie McConney and Morgan Maziarz (three RBI) each finished with three hits for the Rams, who scored three runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to put the game away. POTTSGROVE 3, UPPER MERION 1» Winning pitcher Kira Livezey swung the big bat to key the Falcons’ PAC victory over the Vikings.

Livezey hit a double and drove in two runs to help Pottsgrove (6-6, 6-8) get the victory in nine innings. Cori Dickinson had a triple and an RBI for the Falcons.

Boys lacrosse

SPRING-FORD 18, NORRISTOWN 1 » Jarrod Marenger and Brad Hart netted hat tricks to lead the Rams’ offense in their PAC romp over the Eagles, which gave head coach Kevin Donnelly his 200th career victory with the program.

Spring-Ford got offensive contributi­ons from 18 players, Tate Pijanowski with pairs of goals and assists. Norristown scored in the fourth quarter to avert the shutout.

Donnelly, in his 14th year heading the Spring-Ford boys program, will be recognized for his achievemen­t prior to Thursday’s game with Methacton. Derek Bullotta scored six goals to lead Phoenixvil­le while goalie Tim Bateman made a few miraculous saves in overtime to keep the score tied.

Girls lacrosse

BOYERTOWN 16, METHACTON1­5 » Sydney Fox scored a team-high seven goals as the Bears edged out the Warriors in Liberty Division play.

Maddy Siejk added three goals and two assists with Hailey Heimbach, Ashley Dierolf, Hannah Mitchell, Kylie Webb, Haydn Hallman and Amanda Diachynsky each figuring in with one goal.

Methacton was led by seven goals from Alana Cardaci. Jackie Cerchio finished with three goals and five assists with Addy Borkowski adding two goals and two assists. SPRING-FORD 20, NORRISTOWN 2 » Michaela Haney figured in on seven goals for the Rams in their PAC victory over the Eagles.

Haney and Camryn Jones each netted hat tricks for Spring-Ford, which also got pairs of goals from Anja Sweeney, Erin Connelly, Cassie Marte and Olivia Yeagle. Ashley Schools and Bree McIntyre did the scoring for Norristown. Alison Shuster added a hat trick and a pair of assists while Riley O’Malley posted a pair of goals and three helpers in the win. Rella Staley contribute­d a goal and an assist. Brooke Saylor led Potts grove with six goals while Emily Williams followed with a hat trick. POTTS TOWN 95, UPPER MERI ON 55 » Ernest McCalvin, Martin Metzger and Malik Brown were double-winners for victorious Pottstown in a PAC Frontier dual. McCalvin and Brown starred in the field with McCalvin topping the shot put (408¼) and javelin (136-0) and Brown in the high jump (60) and long jump (19-6). Metzger swept the hurdles, the 110 in 16.8 and the 300 in 44.9.

Chloe Manogue-Shivak dominated the hurdles by taking the 300 intermedia­tes (50.9) and 100 highs (17.8), Diana Randleman won the 200 (27.2) and long jump (15-5½) and Miazziah Rose headed the 100 (12.4) and high jump (5-4). Riley Kappenstei­n led Pottsgrove with her firsts in the discus (89-8) and javelin (109-3). UPPER MERION 83, POTTSTOWN6­6 » Bryonna Chimbinja won two events to emerge as the bright spot for the Trojans in their PAC Frontier Division loss to the Vikings.

Boys golf

The Panthers avenged an earlier loss to Woodlynde by winning their Tri-County League rematch.

Drew Adamczak and Ben Griffaton shot 44s to lead Perkiomen (3-2, 3-3). Christian Westrom added a 57 card. HILL SCHOOL 186, HUN SCHOOL235» The Blues shot their lowest team score in nearly a decade, winning their Mid-Atlantic Prep League match with Hun at the PTC Jasna Polana course.

Charlie Musto was low man again for the Hill with a score of two-under-par 34. Drew Steinmetz was only one shot over par at 37, and Stuart Fuller and JackMurray both had personal best scores of 38.
