Theft was top reported crime in the borough

Theft was the most reported crime in Pottstown over the past week, according to crimemapping.com.

According to crimemapping.com, a policerun website used to inform the public about crime in their area, seven incidents involving theft have occurred since April 18. One of the seven reported involved a retail theft on the 300 block of Farmington Avenue while the remaining six were theft from buildings reported twice on King Street and once on the 300 block of Walnut Street, the 200 block of Rowan Alley, the 400 block of Manatawny Street and the 200 block of Shoemaker Road.

Assault was the second most reported crime in the past week with five incidents of non-aggravated assaults occurring since April 18. Those incidents were reported on the 400 block of Cherry Street, the 800 block of North Charlotte Street, West Fourth Street, the 100 block of North Washington Street and at an unspecified location.

Harassment was reported four times in the past week with incidents occurring on South Evans Street, the 200 block of Industrial Highway, the 400 block of Chestnut Street and the 300 block of Walnut Street.

Drug or alcohol violations were reported three times in the past week including a drug sale on the 300 block of King Street, drug reports on East Third Street and public drunkenness on the 500 block of Chestnut Street.

Fraud was also reported three times on the 300 block of East High Street, the 500 block of East High Street and North Franklin Street.

Burglary, motor vehicle theft and robbery were each reported twice since April 18. Burglaries involving forced entry occurred on the 600 block of King Street while motor vehicle thefts were reported on the 100 block of Shoemaker Road and the 1100 block of Grove Street. Robbery involving a firearm was reported on the 400 block of Walnut Street and a strong arm robbery was reported on Jefferson Avenue.

Criminal mischief to buildings was reported once on the 1500 block of Cherry Lane and a DUI was reported on the 700 block of North Charlotte Street.
