YANKEES3,REDSOX1>> Luis Severino pitched seven innings of three-hit, shutout ball and Aaron Judge celebrated his 25th birthday with a two-run homer and spectacular catch, carrying the surging New York Yankees to a victory over the Boston Red Sox in the longtime rivals’ firstmeeting this season.

It was the 11th win in 14 games for the Yankees after they opened the season 1-4.

Severino (2-1) struck out six and walked two, posting his third straight strong start. In his previous two, the 23-yearold righty became just the third Yankee ever to post double-digit strikeouts without more than one walk in consecutive games.

Reigning AL Cy Young winner Rick Porcello (13) lost his third straight start, giving up three runs -- two earned -- in 6 2/3 innings. He didn’t lose consecutive starts last season.

According to Elias Sports Bureau, Judge became the first Yankee to homer on his birthday at Fenway Park since Roger Maris did it on Sept. 10, 1966. INDIANS 7, ASTROS 6 >> Michael Brantley, continuing his comeback from shoulder problems that forced him to miss most of last season, drove in three runs and the Cleveland Indians defeated the Houston Astros.

Brantley, who played in only 11 games last season after having two operations on his left shoulder, had an RBI double in Cleveland’s three-run first inning and added a tworun single in the fifth.

Carlos Santana had a two-run double in the sixth for the Indians, who have won six of eight.

Trevor Bauer (2-2) allowed four runs in six innings and won his second straight start despite giving up two-run homers to Evan Gattis and BrianMcCann. WHITE SOX 5, ROYALS 2 >> After 99 pitches over six innings, Jose Quintana gave the Chicago White Sox a chance to win.

Then AvisailGarcia gave him the rest of the afternoon off.

Garcia’s two-run home run in the sixth inning broke a tie and lifted the White Sox to a victory, completing a series sweep of the reeling Kansas City Royals, who finished their trip 0-7. BREWERS 9, REDS 4 >> Eric Thames put a brief scare into theMilwaukee Brewers. Baseball’s biggest surprise so far this season says he will be fine.

Thames scored twice before leaving with an injury, and the Brewers beat the Cincinnati Reds for a three-game series sweep.

Thames, who leads the majors with 11 homers, appeared to be favoring his left hamstring as he stretched before the Reds batted in the eighth. Manager Craig Counsell talked with him near first base before the two walked off the field. Jesus Aguilar replaced Thames.
