Walter W. Carroll, 87, of Pottstown, PA passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Manatawny Manor surrounded by his loving family. He was husband of Eleanor (Schaeffer) Carroll with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.

Walter was born October 14, 1929 in New York City. He was the son of the late Walter B. Carroll and Gertrude (Kirwin) Carroll.

Walter and his wife were long-time residents of Lower Pottsgrove. He was a member of the St. Aloysius Church for 75 years. Walter served his country as a proud member of the U.S. Army’s 24th Anti-aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion in Pusan, Korea and, upon his return, worked as a systems analyst for Bell Telephone for 35 years. More than anything, Walter enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed reading, fishing, and telling stories.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Cynthia (Carroll) Mauger and her husband, Lawrence, Boyertown, PA; Holly (Carroll) Caione and her husband, Mario, Audubon, PA; Timothy Carroll and his wife, Carol, Gilbertsvi­lle, PA; Teresa (Carroll) Montes and her husband, Antonio, Pottstown, PA, and Patricia Carroll and her husband, Michael Rhoads, Douglassvi­lle, PA; thirteen grandchild­ren; two great-grandchild­ren, and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is predecease­d by one sister: Betty Leuthold.

Viewings will take place on Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 6-8 pm at the Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464 and on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 10-11 am in the gathering center at St. Aloysius Church, 223 Beech St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 am. Interment will take place following the service at St. Aloysius New Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walter’s honor to St. Aloysius School (please designate donations to the “school relocation project”) or to the Pottsgrove American Legion Post Troop #244, P.O.
