A one-vehicle accident on Route 422 east near the Sanatoga exit snarls traffic on Wednesday.

LOWER POTTSGROVE >> A one-vehicle accident slowed traffic on Route 422 east Thursday after the driver lost control and the car landed on its roof.

Lower Pottsgrove Police said they received a call for a vehicle that was flipped on its roof along Route 422 with passengers inside at approximately 11:34 a.m. When police arrived, they found a black Nissan Altima resting on its roof, just before the Sanatoga exit.

Police said the occupants, one male and one female who were not identified by police, were trapped for a short time in the vehicle but managed to get themselves out.

The occupants told police that they were not injured but were transported by Goodwill Ambulance to Pottstown Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

Witnesses reported that the car was not speeding at the time of the crash but that the driver had lost control while trying to maneuver around another vehicle. The car then left the road and rolled over three times before coming to a rest on its roof, police said.

Traffic in the area was reduced to the left lane as first responders worked on the scene. Officials were able to clear the scene by around 12:20 p.m.

In addition to Lower Pottsgrove Police, Sanatoga Fire Company and Fire Police and Goodwill Ambulance assisted on the scene. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Sanatoga Auto Body.
