Boyertown transgender policy makes no sense

- — Larry D. Clauser Birdsboro

I am disappointed in the Boyertown School Board’s decision to not reverse the current policy regarding students’ restroom and locker room use. However, I am not surprised.

Emotions and feelings today prevail over common sense, logic, reason, practicality and truth. Why must we continue in a policy that worked? Can anybody in the school district tell me the number of incidents and troubles recorded in the school’s annals prior to the recent policy change? Why are there existing laws in our society about indecent exposure? Is it the school’s intent to promote and propagate a disregard for authority?

I understand that laws exist that one may not like. However, does that afford me the right to do as I desire? Imagine that I love driving about the English countryside. They drive on the opposite side of the road there. Since I feel like doing this, should everybody else change that I might have my desires accommodated?

Thus the school board instead of charting a clear and distinct policy has capitulated to allow Pandora’s Box to guide. Can this be the way of an institution of education or the path of a social laboratory experiment?

Do not these everlasting words ring clear and loud? Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it, except the Lord keep the city, the watchman wakes in vain. Psalm 127:1.
