Kelchner hurls Rams past Methacton, 6-0

Jake Kelchner yielded just two hits in a complete-game stint, fanning 11 in the course of the Spring-Ford baseball team’s 6-0 Pioneer Athletic Conference victory over Methacton Friday night.

Baseball

SPRING-FORD 6, METHACTON 0 >> Jake Kelchner produced a superlativ­e pitching effort for the Spring-Ford baseball team Friday in its Pioneer Athletic Conference win over Methacton.

Kelchner yielded just two hits in his complete-game stint, fanning 11 in the course of the Rams’ 6-0 victory. He also drove in one of Spring-Ford’s runs for an offense getting a threeRBI performanc­e from Conor Larkin (2-for-3, double, home run). OWEN J. ROBERTS 3, NORRISTOWN 1 >> Four Wildcat pitchers pooled their talents to no-hit the Eagles in this pairing of PAC Liberty Division teams.

Daniel Velez, Frankie Guinan, Dawson Stuart and Mike Deviney all saw time on the hill for Owen J, with Velez getting credit for the win. Josh Fulmer was OJR’s hitting star, going 2-for-3. DANIEL BOONE 3, WILSON 2 >> Matt Henderson and Zach Brightbill combined on a two-hitter for the Blazers as they edged the Bulldogs in Berks Conference play to take sole possession of first place in Berks 1.

After Wilson scored twice for an early lead, Boone (6-1, 12-1) responded with two fifth-inning runs. Chase Lacy went 2-for-3 with a RBI and Brightbill threw three scoreless innings for the Blazers.

Softball

11, METHACTON 0 Spring-Ford added some cushion to its No. 1 position in the Liberty Division with a victory over the Warriors.

Megan Kern went 2-for-2, including a double and a home run, while finishing with two runs scored and three RBI to lead the Rams’ bats. Maggie McConney, Ashley Della Guardia (two runs scored) and Sophia Cinti (three RBI) each finished with two hits to supplement the two-hit performanc­e from pitchers Sam Lindsay and Bri Kelly. Lindsay got the win in the circle, striking out three while allowing no hits in three innings. Kelly came on in relief, striking out one and allowing two hits in two innings.

Abby Penjuke and Elizabeth Talbot had hits for Methacton. POTTSGROVE 17, POTTSTOWN 2 >> Kelsey Hochstuhl finished with a game-high five RBI as the Falcons downed the Trojans via Mercy Rule.

Rachel Cherubini added two hits, two RBIs and four runs scored in the win with Cori Dickinson and Savannah Wilson (two runs scored) each added two hits. Shauna Maggio, Santee Richards and Jayde Yergey also scored two runs in the win.

Kat Kincade, Gianna Epps and Alivia Lopez had a hit each in the loss. Lopez finished with two RBI. OWEN J. ROBERTS 11, NORRISTOWN 0 >> Led by the bats of Casey Walker, Brianna Smith and Bridget Guinan, the Wildcats rolled past the Eagles to pull into a tie for second place in the Liberty Division.

Walker continued her torrid stretch at the dish, going 2-for-3 with a run scored while Smith added two hits (one double) and an RBI and Guinan two hits, an RBI and two runs scored.

Maddie Daubert finished with three runs scored, a hit and an RBI in the win, which saw Brittney Dellaquila get the win in the circle. She tossed three innings and allowed one hit. Ally Maupay came on in relief and struck out three in two innings of work.

Boys lacrosse

GARDEN SPOT 12, DANIEL BOONE 10 >> Ryan Darrenkamp, figuring in on five goals, was the star for the Blazers in their non-league loss to Garden Spot.

Darrenkamp had three goals and two assists for Daniel Boone (2-11) while Josh Uba, Justin Epps and Ethan Darrenkamp each had two goals.

Girls lacrosse

POTTSGROVE 14, POTTSTOWN 5 >> Brooke Saylor had a game-high six goals to key the Falcons’ PAC Frontier Division victory over the Trojans.

Emily Williams chipped in with four goals, and Mya Krueger headed the Pottsgrove defense with 10-save goaltendin­g. Emme Wolfel scored two goals to lead Pottstown, which got seven-save goaltendin­g from Reilly Owens. PERKIOMEN VALLEY 14, BOYERTOWN 13>> Paige Tyson netted a game-high five goals to lead the Vikings past the Bears in their PAC Liberty Division contest.

Anna Koniencki and Sydney Marasco came up with hat tricks to help PV rally from a 10-7 halftime deficit. Boyertown’s Sydney Fox shared game scoring honors with Tyson with five goals of her own. SPRING-FORD 15, METHACTON 12 >> Camryn Jones led the Rams with five goals and two assists while Liv Yeagle posted a hat trick as Spring-Ford downed the Warriors in a Liberty Division contest.

Mackenzie Doyle added two goals in the win with Anja Sweeney (two assists), Lauren Mensch, Michaela Haney, Cassie Marte (two assists) and Jill Quigley adding a goal apiece. Kamille Ward provided 14-save goaltendin­g.

Methacton was led by three goals from Alana Cardaci. Jackie Cerchio (four assists), Anna Price, Julie Byrne and Sydney Tornetta each scored twice. Rachel O’Toole stopped 16 shots in the loss. NESHAMINY 14, DANIEL BOONE 8 >> Ashley Bonetz’s four-goal showing was the highlight for the Blazers in their non-league loss to the Redskins.

Boys tennis

DISTRICT 1 >> Entrants from the Pioneer Athletic Conference had short stays in the District 1 singles tournament Friday at Healthplex.

Phoenixvil­le’s Mike Ellis, the PAC runner-up, Phoenixvil­le’s Graham Light and Norristown’s Franko Waweru were first-round exits in Class AAA while Pope John Paul II’s Lorenz Rustandi suffered the same fate in AA.

Reigning champion and No. 1 seed Michael Dickson of Downingtow­n East rolled into the quarterfin­als, which begin Saturday, as did fellow top seeds No. 2 Matt Robinson of Lower Merion and No. 3 Matt Chen of Lower Merion.

Ellis fell to quarterfin­alist Tristan Bradley of Unionville, 6-0, 6-1; Light lost to Radnor’s Max Safanov, 6-0, 6-1; Waweru fell to Souderton’s Evan Delp, 6-3, 6-4; PJP’s Rustandi was ousted by Lower Moreland’s Ryan Farber, 6-2, 6-3.

New Hope-Solebury’s Adrian Roji didn’t drop a game in being crowned AA champion. Class AAA continues Saturday with the final to be played on May 13.

Boys golf

HILL SCHOOL 216, PRINCETON DAY 229 >> Charlie Musto again led the Blues to victory in their non-league match with Princeton Day School at Brookside Country Club.

Musto shot a one-over-par 37. Stuart Fuller followed with a 42, and Yash Singh with a 43.
