Spring-Ford’s Israel breaks school record at Freshman/Sophomore Meet

Saturday proved to be a fruitful day for the underclass members of the Spring-Ford track and field team.

Competing at the Freshman/Sophomore Meet held at Pottsgrove High School, Ram sophomore Melissa Israel set a new school record with a 11-3 finish in the pole vault event on her way to a first-place finish.

Along with her, Rachel Murphy finished first in the 1,600 with a time of 5:33.8 while Carly Abrams was first in the javelin with a throw of 100-3. SF’s Devin Rawley was first in the triple jump (34-3.5) and the long jump (16-2.25) to go along with a third-place finish in the high jump (4-8). Caitlyn Gradwell was second in the high jump with a 4-8.

In boys action, SpringFord’s Sal Ibarra was first in the pole vault where he hit a height of 10-0 while Max Simpson was first in the 200 meter with a run of 22.9. Reese Gremban was second in the 110 hurdles with a 17.7 finish while Alex Koretke finished second in the triple jump at 38-2.

Boys lacrosse

BISHOP SHANAHAN 11, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 2 >> The Eagles built an 8-0 halftime advantage en route to a non-conference win over the Vikings.

Max Nice and Matt Dudley each registered goals for PV while Connor Roop had an assist. Kevin Mo finished with 12 saves in goal.

Girls lacrosse

AGNES IRWIN 6, OWEN J. ROBERTS 4 >> The Wildcats trailed 5-2 at the half and couldn’t overcome the Owls during the Katie Samson Festival.

Eloise Gebert, Frankie Carroll, Kelsey Kilgallon and Sydney Drumheller each registered goals while Anna Dempsey registered an assist. Mia Tornetta posted nine saves in goal. Mia Pansini paced Agnes with two goals and an assist. CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 17, METHACTON 6 >> The Warriors fell to C.B. West during their non-conference matchup. BOYERTOWN 13, VILLA MARIA 10 >> Maddy Siejk paced the Bears with three goals and two assists during a win over Villa Maria at the Katie Samson Festival.

Sydney Fox added a hat trick of her own as Boyertown used a 5-2 advantage during the second half. Ashley Dierolf scored twice to go along with two assists while Hailey Heimbach scored twice and Hannah Wentzel had three assists. HILL SCHOOL 11, LOWER MERION 4 >> Bree Gorman and Hannah Delahaye each scored pairs of goals to head the Blues’ showing in their Katie Samson Festival game with the Aces.

Leah Forrest, Ally Maner, Eileen Carmichael, Tatumn Eccleston, Hannah Spease, Liz MacMurray and Riley Bauer rounded out the Hill scoring. Mariah Sweeney, the second of three Hill goalies seeing action, had four saves to lead the defense.
