Perk School punches ticket to TCL title game

The Perkiomen School baseball team wasted no time in punching its ticket to a fourth straight Tri-County League Championsh­ip berth on Thursday afternoon.

The Panthers were all over Renaissanc­e Academy from the start, racking up 13 hits, 12 RBI and 11 stolen bases on their way to a fiverun 14-4 win during the opening round of the TCL playoffs.

Chris Pow led the charge offensivel­y, finishing up 4-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and four RBI out of the two-hole while leadoff man David Smith was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBI. Jayden

Kemp also finished up with two hits to go along with two runs scored for Perk (6-0 TCL, 13-1 overall).

Marc Molnar picked up the mound win, giving way to an earned run on four hits and two walks in 2-1/3 innings of work. Pow came on for the remainder of the way where he was tagged for three runs (all unearned) on no hits and two walks.

The championsh­ip game will take place Monday, May 8, with the site, opponent and time yet to be determined. SPRING-FORD 3, DANIEL BOONE 1 » Both teams combined for only six hits as the Rams held on late to survive the Blazers in this nonconfere­nce pairing.

Tom Hughes got the start for Spring-Ford, limiting Boone to one hit across three innings of work before handing it over to Ryne Moore, Nick Price and Cole Webb in relief. Matt Henderson lasted 4-1/3 innings for the Blazers, giving way to three runs (two earned) on four hits and six walks. Sam Barletta had a double and two runs scored for Spring-Ford. PHOENIXVIL­LE 12, UPPER MERION 1 » The Phantoms scored 10 runs through the first three innings on their way to a five-inning Pioneer Athletic Conference rout of the Vikings.

Matt Osisek-Byrne finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI while Trip Shoemaker was 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and five RBI. Kevin Cushing picked up the win, giving way to just one run on four hits in five innings of work. POPE JOHN PAUL II 11, POTTSGROVE 1 » Dan Cirino, Christian Wagner and Ryan Lynn each drove in two runs apiece to help the Golden Panthers handle the Falcons in six innings of their PAC Frontier Division contest.

Softball

SPRING-FORD 3, OWEN J. ROBERTS 2 » The Rams were extended to nine innings by the Wildcats before pulling out the PAC Liberty Division victory.

Megan Maziarz (3-for4), Ashley Della Guardia and Julie Heine all drove in runs for Spring-Ford, which helped force the extra-inning scenario by pulling even with OJR in the sixth. Bridget Guinan went 4-for-4 to lead Roberts. METHACTON 9, BOYERTOWN 3» Scoring seven runs in their second at-bat, the Warriors erased the Bears’ early lead and went on to win this PAC Liberty Division pairing.

Home runs by Alyssa Acker and Taylor Garcia were the highlight for Boyertown, which opened a three-run lead in the first. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 18, WEST-MONT CHRISTIAN 2 » The Panthers, keyed by Ally Brauchle’s one-hit pitching and an offense that waited out 14 walks, rolled to a mercy-rule victory over the Wings in Tri-County League play.

Brauchle had five strikeouts against three walks, limiting West-Mont to all its runs in the third inning. Perkiomen, however, racked up all its runs through three at-bats with help from Paige DelConte’s four-RBI outing. PHOENIXVIL­LE 5, INTERBORO 1» The Phantoms got a solid pitching effort from Jess Eldridge in their non-league victory over Interboro.

Eldridge allowed one run on three hits and struck out six. The Phoenixvil­le offense was led by Jess Anthony’s triple. POPE JOHN PAUL II 13, MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 4 » Alexandra Spzindor tossed a complete game and went 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored for the Golden Panthers in their nonleague victory over MSJ. POTTSGROVE 4, SOUDERTON3» Kelsey Hochstuhl, Shauna Maggio and Jay Dinnocenti drove in runs to help the Falcons edge the Big Red in their non-league outing. PERKIOMEN VALLEY 12, GWYNEDD MERCY 0 » Abby Wild was solid both offensivel­y and defensivel­y during the Vikings’ non-conference win over Gwynedd Mercy.

Wild finished with a pair of hits and two runs scored and also picked up the win in the circle where she struck out 12 on her way to a one-hitter. Jordan Sell (two runs scored, RBI) and Ashley Bangert (run scored, two RBI) each finished with a pair of hits while Sela Fusco had two runs scored and three RBI.

Boys lacrosse

BOYERTOWN 16, UPPER MERION 4 » The Bears marked their Senior Night observance by rolling over the Vikings in their PAC contest.

Brady McFalls led the way with his four-goal showing. Boyertown also benefited from Mason Turner’s hat trick and another two goals from Jason Clinton. POPE JOHN PAUL II 16, POTTSGROVE 1 » The Golden Panthers were all over the Falcons on their way to a PAC win.

James Poot finished with four goals and two assists while Justin Kent added three goals. Alex McElroy and Zach Galie had two goals apiece. OWEN J. ROBERTS 15, METHACTON 7 » The Wildcats used a 13-6 scoring advantage from the second quarter on to pull away from the Warriors and win this PAC Liberty Division tilt.

Logan Clefisch had a game-high four goals for OJR, which got 14-save goaltendin­g from J.C. Capaldo. Stanley Kolimago was Methacton’s offensive leader with a hat trick while Harvey Smith provided 16save

goaltendin­g.

WILSON 11, DANIEL BOONE 3 » Anthony Stevenson accounted for all the Blazers’ scoring in their Berks Conference loss to the Bulldogs.

Greg Hensley (six) and Jared Glanski combined to give Boone 10-save goaltendin­g. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 7, CHURCH FARM 4 » Miles Longstreth and Harrison Gavin each scored three goals and assisted on a fourth to lead the Panthers past Church Farm School in their non-league game.

Seth Willis completed Perkiomen’s point collection, with Liam Brassingto­n and Peter Choi adding assists.

Girls lacrosse

BOYERTOWN 17, NORRISTOWN 0 » Georgi Saxon headed a potent offense in complement to a shutdown defense that gave the Bears a PAC Liberty Division romp over the Eagles.

Saxon netted a hat trick and had two assists in helping Boyertown open a 14goal first-half lead. At the defensive end, goalies Kasey Fox (two saves) and Sarah Didget (one) kept Norristown off the board. WILSON 16, DANIEL BOONE 1 » Ashley Bonetz accounted for the Blazers’ lone goal in their Berks Conference loss to the Bulldogs.

Bonetz was assisted on her goal by Julia Bookwalter. Cameron Nicoline chipped in with eight-save goaltendin­g for Boone.

Boys volleyball

DANIEL BOONE 3, WILSON 1 » The Blazers came on with 26-24 and 25-17 set wins after splitting the first two with the Bulldogs. Boone took the first 25-19 before Wilson won the second, 2520.

Kyle Stroble had 12 kills for Boone (9-0, 13-1), with Ian Rathgeb adding 16 kills and nine digs. Ty Dorang contribute­d 14 digs and Danny Dry 40 assists and eight kills.
