Police say they have identified the suspect in the beating of a 60-year-old man at a borough convenience store.
SPRING CITY » Authorities in Spring City confirmed Monday that a person has been identified as a possible suspect in the “savage” beating of a 60-year-old man that took place over the weekend at a convenience store.
The Spring City Police Department took to its Facebook page to announce the news early Monday afternoon.
“The subject has been identified,” police said. “Our investigation is continuing. Thanks for the assistance.”
Police were unable to provide further details on the investigation.
The incident occurred at the Turkey Hill convenience store at 2 E. Bridge St. sometime over the weekend. Police initially released a photo of a young white man, with dark brown hair, wearing glasses, a neon green T-shirt, black gym shorts, a black back pack, blue socks and blue sandals. The photo was not included in the most recent update on the investigation.
Police said they believe the unidentified individual attacked a 60-yearold man for unknown reasons, sucker-punching him and knocking him to the ground unconscious.
He then continued to beat him after he was already knocked out, police said in a media report. He then fled the scene before police arrived.
