Get back-to-school with Mercury Mile
Join a community walk at Barth Elementary School on Wednesday
POTTSTOWN » Now that the solar eclipse has come and gone, it’s time to focus again on the back-toschool season. This week’s Mercury Mile walk will begin from Barth Elementary School in recognition of students in the area gearing up for another year of learning.
There’s no need for bookbags and pencils. Participants just need to wear comfortable shoes and be ready to walk a mile with other community members. The afternoon walk will begin from the school, located at 467 W. Walnut St., at noon Wednesday. The school has an outdoor Mosaic community garden that walkers will be able to view before taking a stroll around the neighborhood.
The community walk is a great opportunity to step away from the work desk or get out of the house for a little while. Come out and meet new people while getting some light exercise at the same time.
If there is inclement weather on Wednesday afternoon then the walk be cancelled and resume next week. The Mercury Mile is a free, weekly community activity that happens every Wednesday at noon. The location of the walk changes from week to week. Area organizations and individuals are encouraged to host a Mercury Mile walk to get employees involved and use the activity as an opportunity to inform the community about their company or upcoming events. Organizations that host the healthy activity will be featured in the newspaper through photographs and online for the “Businesses in Motion” section.
