Edmund M. Skarbek, 76, of Pottstown

Edmund M. Skarbek, 76, of Maple Street, Pottstown, husband of Patricia R. (Pollock) Skarbek, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Born in Pottstown, PA, he was a son of the late Joseph E. Skarbek and the late Florence A. (Sroka) Skarbek.

He was a 1958 graduate of Pottstown High School.

Edmund was a self-employed barber for fifty six years. He also sold real estate for Herb Real Estate.

He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Pottstown, a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elk’s Lodge #814, Pottstown, was an avid golfer, and member of Spring Hollow Golf Club.

He served as a councilmen of the sixth ward from 1973-1981, president of council from 1981-1985, and served as Mayor of Pottstown from 19851989.

Surviving besides his wife of fifty five years are three sons, Michael A. Skarbek and his wife Denise, Elkridge, MD, David E. Skarbek, Cinnaminson, NJ, Matthew P. Skarbek, Sinking Spring, PA; a brother, Joseph R. Skarbek and his wife Carol, Pottstown, a sister, Marlene wife of Kerry Schutz, Douglassville; and seven grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held 11:00 A.M. on Saturday August 26, 2017 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Hanover & Beech Streets, Pottstown. Burial will be in St. Aloysius New Cemetery. There will be a viewing Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. in the gathering center at church.
