Pottstown: The Rotary Club of Pottstown will present a “Back to School” Designer Purse Bingo on Sunday, Sept. 10, at the Sunnybrook Ballroom, 50 N. Sunnybrook Road. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with bingo starting at 6 p.m. Included are 20 regular plus 3 special games, door prizes, raffles, food. Cost is $25 per ticket. Make checks payable to PRCEF. Pottstown: The August meeting of the
Pottstown Area Garden Club was held at Ironstone Park, 141 Grist Mill Road, Boyertown. Susan Doblmaier presented her program “Container Gardening” using a combination of herbs, vegetables and flowers. The chaplain was Edie Mensch, greeters were Trudy Duttenhoffer and Barbara McCleary and the hostesses were Janice Lunn, Louise Gensemer and Joan Wausnock. Awarded Best-in-Show in the horticulture division of the Little Flower Show was Jo Ann Waddell for her “Ruby Slippers” Coleus; the judges were Ingeborg Frecon, Anne Sage and Mary Lou Tate. New member, Holly Gray, was welcomed into the club, sponsored by her sister, Gail Carroll; the Youth Committee of Karen Albera, Cheryl Avery and Jo Ann Waddell organized a seed-planting event with the Pottstown Hispanic Community Center. The Sept. 8 meeting will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1101 E. High St., Pottstown, preceded by the presentation “Growing Lavender for the Art and Soul.” For more info, contact the club’s Facebook page.
