Substance violations lead crime in past week

POTTSTOWN » Substance abuse violations were the most reported crime over the past week.

According to crimemappi­ng.com, a policerun website used to inform the public about crime in their area, seven incidents involving drugs or alcohol occurred since Aug. 15. Those incidents included four cases of drug possession on the 200 block of Shoemaker Road, the 400 block of High Street, the 1600 block of East High Street and the 100 block of East High Street. Public drunkennes­s was reported twice on East High Street and the 500 block of King Street, along with one incident involving drug manufactur­e on the 300 block of Chestnut Street.

Vandalism was the second most reported crime in Pottstown over the past week with three cases of vandalism to vehicles on the 300 block of North Evans Street and two incidents on the 1000 block of Center Avenue. Criminal mischief to buildings was also reported on North Washington Street.

Harassment was also reported four times including incidents on the 100 block of North Charlotte Street, the 100 block of South Roland Street, West Fourth Street and the 200 block of Shoemaker Road.

Two assaults involving hands, feet and fists occurred on the 100 block of Walnut Street and West Fourth Street, along with one assault with a firearm on the 1600 block of East High Street.

Robbery, vehicle theft, burglary and theft were each reported twice over the past week. One strong arm robbery was reported on Evans Street along with a robbery involving a firearm on the 300 block of Lincoln Avenue. Burglaries were reported on the 1500 block of Sunset Drive and the 100 block of Chestnut Street, as well as two vehicle thefts on North Franklin Street and South Street. A theft of bicycles occurred on Chestnut Street and a theft from buildings was reported on the 1200 block of Queen Street.

One incident involving a vehicle break-in was reported on the 500 block of North Charlotte Street.
