Downtown Pottstown was a festival of bubbles, sidewalk chalk and balloon animals for a special celebration during the weekly outdoor farmers market.

The Pottstown Farm & Artisan Regional Market, FARM for short, is a pop-up market that happens in the 200 block of East High Street every Thursday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. until November. There’s an “Almost Friday” event the last Thursday of every month when the market features a variety of activities such as live music and a beer garden.

The big draw for the latest

“Almost Friday” affair was a Sidewalk Chalk Festival. Children and adults had fun making beautiful art on the sidewalk. The Pottstown Community Arts organized the family friendly event which was held in the Smith Family Plaza right next to Borough Hall. There were also bubbles, a moon bounce and music.

Right up the street from the chalk festival were vendors participating in the outdoor farmers market. This is the second season for the popup market which features ven-

dors selling fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, soap, chocolates and more. Children that visited the Mosaic Community Land Trust table at the market were asked to try the FARM product of the month as part of the “Two-Bite Club.” Those that tried a ground cherry, also called cape gooseberries, received a $5 coin that can be used at the market.

The Pottstown Community Arts organization will be returning to downtown Pottstown for the 4th Annual Haunts on High which will be Oct. 14 from noon to 4 p.m. Kids will dress up and trick-or-treat at local businesses. The free event will also include face paintings, a fall photo booth, crafts and more. There will also be a fall Art Walk through ArtFusion 19464.
