Vikings’ Ellie Min posts assist No. 2,000; Perkiomen Valley blanks Methacton

Perkiomen Valley senior Ellie Min posted 32 assists — including the 2,000th of her career — during the Vikings’ 3-0 Pioneer Athletic Conference win over the Methacton girls volleyball team on Wednesday night.

Set scores were 25-22, 2519 and 25-13.

Perk Valley’s offense was balanced throughout with Helena Clauhs, Lia Torrilo and Sarah Straub posting 11, 10 and nine kills, respective­ly. Liz Caruso, Grace Herbein and Clauhs each had 12 digs on defense. POPE JOHN PAUL II 3, OWEN J. ROBERTS 0 » PJP got the sweep with set scores of 2510, 25-19 and 25-12.

Haley Spotts led PJP with five kills and two aces while Sarah Ward posted four kills and five digs.

Michelle Frank had two digs, one ace, one kill and one block for OJR. Mikayla Johnson contribute­d three kills and one block while Chloe Golas had three blocks, two digs and one kill. SPRING-FORD 3, BOYERTOWN 0» The Rams defeated the Bears in straight sets, 25-13, 25-13 and 25-12. Carly Swenson posted 24 assists and three kills while Lindsey Dadourian had five kills and two blocks. Alexis Palucki had seven kills and a pair of blocks while Olivia Olsen

had nine kills and three digs. Grace Kraft (three aces) and Lauren Stenson combined for 17 digs. UPPER MERION 3, PHOENIXVIL­LE 0 » The Eagles beat the Phantoms in straight sets during their PAC Frontier Division match. Set scores were 25-11, 25-12 and 25-13.

Field hockey

SPRING-FORD 10, NORRISTOWN 1 » Kaitlyn Hennessey and Clare Kennedy each scored a pair of goals to lead the Rams to a PAC Liberty Division win over the Eagles.

Katelyn Crist, Shannon Kennedy, Julia Forcey, Alexa Habermehl and MaryPat McKenna each scored once while Kristen Grebe and Ashley Della Guardia combined for four saves in the cage. UPPER MERION 3, POTTSGROVE 0 » Rella Staley accounted for all the Vikings’ offense as they blanked the Falcons in PAC Frontier Division play. UPPER PERKIOMEN 6, PHOENIXVIL­LE 0 » The two-goal outings of Hope Flack and Kaylie Siwy keyed the Indians’ PAC Frontier Division victory over the Phantoms.

Colleen Creneti and Michaela Fredzek rounded out the UP point production, with Morgan Fiorito, Liz Fox, Autumn Gahman, Abriana Gatto and AiYi Young getting credit for assists. Goalie Carly Eidle needed to make only one save to record the shutout. DANIEL BOONE 2, HAMBURG 0 » Katherine Woods did all the scoring for the Blazers as they blanked the Hawks in a non-divisional matchup of Berks Conference member schools.

Aly Williams was credited with an assist on one of Woods’ goals. Katie Dotterweic­h got the shutout with 11 goalkeeper saves.

Boys cross country

OWEN J. ROBERTS 17, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 42 » Liam Conway got the defense of his PAC championsh­ip off in solid fashion, leading the Wildcats’ victory over the Vikings in their PAC Liberty Division pairing.

Conway covered PV’s home course in 17 minutes flat, outpacing teammates Andrew Malmstrom (second, 17:32) and Linus Blatz (third, 17:46). Dylan Danowski was the Vikes’ leading runner, coming home fourth in 17:47. POTTSGROVE 26, UPPER MERION 30 » Having four runners finish among the top seven, the Falcons were able to outrun the Vikings in their PAC Frontier Division meet.

Bryce Hampton led the way, the Pottsgrove junior covering UM’s course in 18:41. Gabe Craig and Brandon Henriksen gave the Falcons a respective 3-4 finish behind Viking front-runner Abhi Vagvala, who clocked a second-place time of 18:52. POPE JOHN PAUL II 15, POTTSTOWN 42 » Jack Phillips headed the Golden Panthers’ sweep of the first five spots in their PAC Frontier Division victory over the Trojans.

Phillips clocked the meet’s lone sub-18 run, posting a 17:42 to finish ahead of teammates Shane McKeon (second, 18:10) and Michael Florig (third, 18:25). Gionkirk Kimmell and Khalif Burgess were Pottstown’s leading runners’ both coming home in 19:15.

Girls cross country

OWEN J. ROBERTS 25, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 30 » The Wildcats placed four of the next five spots behind PV racewinner Teagan ScheinBeck­er on the way to winning this PAC Liberty Division meet.

Mary Bernotas (20:03) and Autumn Sands (20:18) went 2-3 behind ScheinBeck­er, who ran a winning time of 19:43. Delaney O’Sullivan followed in 20:21, giving PV fourth place. UPPER MERION 22, POTTSGROVE 36 » The Vikings placed five runners among the first seven to secure a PAC Frontier Division win over the Falcons.

Naomi Hillen gave Pottsgrove a winning run of 21:22, ahead of UM’s Veronica Sanchez (21:36). Amy Wildermuth (fifth), Molly Neeson (eighth) and Megan Czerpak (10th) were the locals’ other top 10 finishers. POTTSTOWN 27, POPE JOHN PAUL II 28 » The 2-3 finish of Hailey Christman and Adrianna Hayward helped the Trojans deal with Julia Costello’s winning run for the Golden Panthers, enabling the Trojans to a one-point victory in this PAC Frontier Division meet.

Christman and Hayward clocked respective times of 22:20 and 23:19 behind Costello’s 21:40. Pottstown’s 5-7-10 finish proved enough to offset PJP’s 4-6-8-9 roll behind Costello.

Boys golf

SPRING-FORD 184, POTTSGROVE 242 » Ben Pochet headed the Rams’ solid showing against the Falcons in their PAC match at Turtle Creek.

Pochet shot a one-under 35 to finish ahead of teammate Luke Watson, who was an even-par 36. SpringFord saw its top five all card scores lower than Pottsgrove leader Josh Keepley’s 40.

Boys soccer

METHACTON 4, SPRING-FORD 2» The Warriors struck four times during the second half to erase a one-goal deficit and claim a PAC Liberty Division win.

Chris Meehan scored twice while Trevor Rambo and Brett Jabour registered solo tallies in the win. Colin Trainor scored off a feed from Colin Trainor while Spring-Ford also benefitted from Methacton’s own-goal. OWEN J. Mike Sereny notched a hat trick while Ethan Pace and Sebastian Paez each scored twice. Collin Deckert, Jared Smith and La’Ree Hills each registered solo goals. UPPER MERION 2, UPPER PERKIOMEN 1 » An own goal proved the difference for the Vikings in their PAC Frontier Division win over the Indians.

Steven White, assisted by Cole Kendra, scored for UP while Trevor Looby tallied off Chris Kourtisis’ setup for UM. Jackson Lill had three goalkeeper saves for the Tribe while Dylan Castillo made three stops for the Vikes.

Girls soccer

SPRING-FORD 4, METHACTON 3» Kelly Franz scored twice while Ella Curry and Gabby Kane scored single goals as the defending PAC champion Rams (2-0, 2-0) fended off Methacton in a PAC Liberty game.

Methacton’s Michaela Tommarello made it 3-2 on a shot from distance in the second half but the Warriors (0-2, 0-2) couldn’t find the equalizer. Lee Eubank scored a consolatio­n goal with three seconds to play while Mariah Romano opened Methacton’s scoring in a 1-1 first half. Kendall Ozorowski had two assists. UPPER PERKIOMEN 3, UPPER MERION 0 » The Indians defeated the Vikings in PAC Frontier Division play.

Rianne Moll netted a hat trick for the Indians with assists from Emma Long, Emily Schaut and Kayleigh Durning. Upper Perk had 10 shots on goal compared to Upper Merion with none.
