Blue Bell: Explore the cosmos during Montgomery County Community College’s free community nights at its researchgr­ade Observator­y and Observatio­n Deck. Community nights will be held from 8 to 10 p.m. on Sept. 11, Oct. 16 and Nov. 13. The Observator­y and Observatio­n Deck are features of the college’s 60,000 square-foot Advanced Technology Center. The Observator­y features a 16-inch MEADE SchmidtCas­segrain telescope and several other telescopes on the Observatio­n Deck. Community nights are free and open to the public, and astronomy clubs and scout troops are welcome. The Observator­y is located on the third floor of the Advanced Technology Center, Central Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike. The observator­y sessions are subject to weather conditions. Call the Observator­y hotline at 215-641-6460 an hour before the event for informatio­n about possible cancellati­on. Royersford: Vendor Bingo hosted by Angel Flight East will be held on Friday, Sept. 15, at the Friendship Fire Co., 269 Green St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and games begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 and includes a free wildcard sheet. Be sure to mention Angel Flight East at the door. Proceeds from this event support the mission of Angel Flight East to arrange free air transporta­tion for children and adults who need medical treatment far from home. New Hanover: Noted food historian Alan Keyser will be the speaker for the New Hanover Township Historical Society’s program at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the School House, Reifsnyder Road, by the Swamp Creek Park. His topic, “Pennsylvan­ia Dutch Cooking Through the Year,” is an illustrate­d talk supported by a lifetime of research and writing on Pennsylvan­ia German themes. Keyser is known to be the most authoritat­ive local researcher and author on Pennsylvan­ia Dutch folk-culture. Visitors welcome.
