Calvary UCC

Barto: The 91st annual beef vegetable soup supper and bake sale will be held from 3to 7p.m. today at Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Route 100. Take-out and table service. Hamburgers, hot dogs and desserts. Everyone is welcome. The Rally Day worship service will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday led by Pastor Linda. Special Guest Linda Holliday will perform: The Magic of God’s Love! Holliday uses ventriloqu­ism to emphasize the Bible stories. This is a program for the entire family to enjoy together. Please note Sunday School will start on Sept. 17 at 9 a.m., there is no Sunday School hour on Sept 10.

Woxall: The 140th annual Oyster Picnic will be held from noon to 6:30 p.m. today at the Old Goshenhopp­en Church’s picnic grove area, 2092 Church Road. Enjoy oyster stew, fried oysters, raw oysters on the half shell, smoked salmon sandwiches and much more. Musical entertainm­ent all day. Bring lawn chairs for the concerts. Schwenksvi­lle: Saint Mary Feast will be held from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 40 Spring Mount Road. Beginning with the noon Mass, enjoy music, games, food and fellowship all day. There will be homemade Latin, Polish, Italian, and American foods along with fun carnival games including a Eurobungee jump, a rock wall and dunk tank. There will be 60s music by Steve and Dave, music and games by DJ Mike Trotter and animal balloons by Chippy the Clown. Stop by Attic Treasures, Saturday and Sunday. Come watch the Eagles Season opener in the Biergarten, which will have craft beer and wine or try your luck in a 50⁄50 raffle. All are welcome.

Spring City: Regular services resume at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. on Sunday at Bethel United Methodist Church. Christian Education from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. For Rally Day, Character Juggler Chris Ivey will be performing at 9:30 a.m. in the Shick Shack (weather permitting). New member reception following the 10:45 a.m. service. A B.U.S. trip to September Farm for lunch and shopping will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Boyertown: A free summer concert with Celtic Martins will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at St. John-Hill United Church of Christ, 620 Hill Church Road, in the picnic grove. Food available at 4 p.m.

First Presbyteri­an

Pottstown: Rally Day will take place at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday at First Presbyteri­an Church to kick start the new Sunday School year. Taking place during worship will be the commission­ing of the Sunday School teachers and young children and worship advisors, installati­on of Jeff Pinard, and playground dedication. The annual church picnic will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Immediatel­y following the picnic, the Sr. Seekers will walk to the Allens house for a bonfire and s’mores until 8:30 p.m.

Kimberton: The new Coordinato­r of Faith, Jaime Frazier, will be installed during the 9:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Centennial Lutheran Church, 1330 Hares Hill Road. Limerick: The “Fall KickOff Celebratio­n” will start at 1 p.m. today at St. James Lutheran Church, 93 Kugler Road, with a Tailgate/Block Party for families. Families will bring food to share and games will be played. Cars should be decorated for each family’s favorite team. Kids Connect classes will resume on Sunday. Third graders will be presented with Bibles. There also will be a blessing of Growth in Faith Ministries during worship. Pottstown: An Ethnic Pot Luck dinner will be hosted at 5 p.m. tonight at Christ Episcopal Church, 316 High St. Also via video there will be an introducti­on to Alpha, an 11week program that explores Christian faith. Reservatio­ns are not required. Participan­ts are encouraged to bring their favorite ethnic food dish. Entrance for the program and parking is at the back of the church off Queen Street. All are welcome.

Mount Carmel UMC

St. Peters: Volunteers from Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 2203 Harmonyvil­le Road, will meet today for the “Good Works Program,” an organizati­on that helps those in need of home repairs. The normal fall schedule will resume on Sunday with Sunday school classes reconvenin­g at 9:15 a.m. The Youth Club at 6:15 p.m. and the Shepherd’s Voice Choir at 7:45 p.m. will both reconvene on Wednesday for the fall schedule.

St. Paul’s UCC Pottstown: The monthly Pancake Breakfast will resume on Sunday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 927 N. Franklin St . Cost is $6 for Adults; $5 for Ages 6 to 12; and free for kids ages 5 and under. Breakfasts will be held on the second Sunday of every month.

First Baptist

Pottstown: First Baptist Church begins The Fall season begins with a time change for the worship service back to the regular 10:45 a.m. service on Sunday at First Baptist Church, King and Charlotte streets. Sunday school resumes at 9:30 a.m. for all ages and the adult choir practices at 9:45 a.m. The Elderberry group luncheon is at noon on Monday at the Coventry Parlor on Laurelwood Road.

Coventryvi­lle UMC

Pottstown: The Thrift Shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Coventryvi­lle United Methodist Church, 1521 Old Ridge Road. A service will be held Sunday afternoon for the residents of The Gardens at Posttstown.

St. John’s UCC

Pottstown: Rally Day will be celebrated Sunday at St. John’s United Church of Christ. Sunday School will begin at 9 a.m. with classes for all ages. The church service returns to 10:15 a.m. and will be celebrated in the sanctuary. Social Hour will follow the service.

Emmanuel Lutheran

Pottstown: Rally Day, which marks the beginning of Sunday School, is 9 a.m. on Sunday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 150 North Hanover St. Classes are offered for ages 2 through adult. All are welcome.

St. Peter’s Lutheran

Pottstown: The Evangelica­l Lutheran Worship Setting No. 4 will be used beginning Sunday through the end of the year at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 564 Glasgow St. The Senior Choir will resume singing with the anthem titled “I Want to Walk As a Child of the Light” by Richard Erickson. Sunday is Rally Day; Sunday school and catechetic­al classes resume at 9:15 a.m.

Bethel Community

Pottstown: The Praise Power Choir will resume rehearsal at 10 a.m. today at Bethel Community Church of Pottstown, 575 N. Keim St. Special prayers will be offered during the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday for the residents of Texas including those who lost their life during the storm. Immediatel­y following service, Darryl and Rebecca Spaulding will share Darryl’s journey from “Cancer Worrier” to “Cancer Warrior” having survived stage IV cancer. Open to the public. Darryl will be signing his most recently released book.

Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian

Phoenixvil­le: The final meeting will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church for the annual Ukrainian Day Festival to be held on Saturday, Sept. 16.

Zion’s UCC

Pottstown: Rev. Austin Chinault returns to the 10:15 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Zion’s United Church of Christ, Hanover and Chestnut streets. This service also welcomes back the Senior Choir. Sunday School is now in session for all ages of children and adults from 9 to 10 a.m.

Brownback’s UCC

Spring City: A free Community Dinner will be hosted from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at Brownback’s United Church of Christ, 640 Ridge Road. No reservatio­ns are needed, please just show up and enjoy a delicious Ham Dinner prepared by the Fellowship Committee. A special Rally Day Worship celebratio­n will take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday. The Worship Ensemble will be performing, and the Chancel Choir will be returning for their regular performanc­es. Remain after the Service for a special birthday-themed luncheon. Not only will the church’s upcoming 275th birthday be celebrated, but everyone’s birthday will be celebrated. All are invited to bring a dessert to share for the Cake Walk.
