OJR tops charts at Centaur Invitation­al

The Owen J. Roberts cross country teams dominated Saturday’s Centaur Invitation­al, producing the boys individual champion and girls team titlist by the time the race ended.

The Wildcat girls had five Top 20 finishers on the way to their championsh­ip (55 points) over Parkland (84). Autumn Sands was second overall in 20:29, with Hannah Kopec sixth (20:54).

Alex Glasier (14th, 21:19), Mikayla Niness (15th, 21:19) and Makenzie Kurtz (18th, 21:30) also contribute­d to OJR’s low-scoring run.

On the boys’ side, team runner-up OJR (85 points) had Liam Conway win with a time of 15:59 on the deSales University course. Andrew Malmstrom followed in sixth place (17:02) ahead of Linus Blatz (22nd, 17:43), Larkin Recke (23rd, 17:43) and David Brunton (33rd, 18:09).

PHOENIXVIL­LE 4, TWIN VALLEY 1 » Kyle Tucker scored twice to key the Phantoms’ victory over the Raiders in the Twin Valley Tournament. Jared Carboy and Danny Jackson completed Phoenixvil­le’s scoring, with assists credited to Alex Bowman, Jack Linko, Tyler Siefer and Nick Sinapius. BOYERTOWN 3, DANIEL BOONE 0 » Jimmy Towers scored two goals to lead the Bears in their non-league victory over the Blazers. Ryan Burkhardt completed the point production for Boyertown (2-0). Assists were credited to Ben Wise, Sal Marciante and Connor Reiss. METHACTON 3, WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 3 » Twice taking goals, the Warriors saw the Golden Knights erase both advantages as the teams played to a double-overtime draw. Connor Bossard began the scoring for Methacton (2-11) with an assist from Chris Meehan, before Vince Delisi tallied twice in the second half to overcome a 2-1 Rustin lead. Ryan Sheridan and Max Jones got credit for assists, with Mason LeSage adding seven goalkeeper saves. SOUTH KENT 2, HILL SCHOOL 0» South Kent scored in each half to deal the Blues a shutout loss in the Hill Kickoff Jamboree. South Kent converted a free kick in the sixth minute, managed to avoid a pair of PK calls and took that lead into the second half before a back volley found the upper far corner. The Hill got solid play from Zach Barrett, Euan Forres and Chase Clemens, with Chris Kingston making four saves for the locals. Hunter Kochiss had five saves for South Kent, whose goals were scored by Endy Butigian and Payton Blynn.

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 2, SOUTHERN LEHIGH 1 » Kesley Marino’s secondhalf goal proved the difference for the Vikings in their non-league victory over the Spartans. Marino scored 18 seconds from the opening tap, working past five players before placing her shot in the low corner of the net. Sydney Marasco, assisted by Sarah Westgate and Nikki Foller-Moll, put PV on the board at the 15:37 mark of the first half before Bella Touzeau tallied for SL. Leslie Adams protected the Viking lead with five-save goaltendin­g. DANIEL BOONE 5, WYOMISSING 0 » Jess DiGiacomo’s two-goal showing keyed the Blazers’ win over the Spartans in a non-divisional pairing of Berks Conference member schools. Cassidy Carroll, Madalynne Forster and Hannah Starolis rounded out the scoring for Boone (2-1-1), with Rachel Woomer adding one assist.

METHACTON 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 2 » With a pair of first-half goals, the Warriors were able to outpace the Patriots for victory in their non-league matchup. Olivia Hoover, Emily Owens and Katy Benton did the scoring for Methacton (3-0), with Benton and Gretchen Alderfer getting credit for defensive saves. Molly Frey chipped in with nine-save goaltendin­g. BOYERTOWN 2, MARPLE NEWTOWN 1 » The Bears scored both their goals in the opening half then held on to down the Tigers in non-conference play. Allison Melahn opened it up with a score on a corner before Sydney Fox scored off a feed from Cassie Kidwell. Hailey Levengood and Haley Gable combined for eight saves in goal while Amber Marburger and Asia Swenk were strong on the defensive end. TULPEHOCKE­N 3, POTTSGROVE 0 » Alivia Klopp scored twice in a twominute span to key Tulpehocke­n’s non-league victory over the Falcons. Natasha Rohrback rounded out Tulpehocke­n’s scoring with 20:08 left in the second half. Maggie Davis turned in an 11-save day in goal for Pottsgrove.

HILL SCHOOL 24, POTTSGROVE 12 » The Blues opened their season against the Falcons at Brookside Country Club, taking a non-league outing under a best-ball/matchplay format.

Hunter Ramee and Billy Gussler led a Hill lineup with several top players unavailabl­e due to undergoing standardiz­ed testing. Ramee led the way with a nine-hole score of 42, and Gussler and Joel Crooks had matching 44s behind Echo Wu’s 43.

Girls tennis

PRINCETON DAY 4, HILL SCHOOL 1 » Elena Zhang accounted for the Blues’ lone point in their non-league match with Princeton Day School.

Zhang handled Grace Marshall at first singles, 6-4, 6-0. Joyce Sun had the Hill’s next best showing, extending her thirdsingl­es match with Selin Kesaf to three sets.
