Regina A. ‘Jean’ Luskoski, 92
On a beautiful autumn day, Regina Glowacki Luskoski passed away at the age of 92. Jean Luskoski died September 10, 2017 in her childhood home.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Lee; her parents Joseph and Sophia (Bochko) Glowacki, and her sister Loretta.
She is survived by her sister, Patricia Lederer and husband Karl, her niece Patricia Lemon and husband Stephen, her nephews, Joseph Lederer and Christopher Lederer and wife Michele, great-nieces Allison and Laura Lemon, and great nephew Kieran Lederer.
Jean graduated from Phoenixville High School in 1943.
She was named Phoenixville’s first Dogwood Queen in 1943.
She worked at Weiland’s Packing Company and in banking for over 20 years. She spent 3 years in Hawaii when Lee was stationed at Tripler Army Hospital and enjoyed sharing memories of her stint in an exotic place far removed from the front porch of her childhood home.
She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Church; the Rosary Society; the Women of Holy Trinity; and the Senior Center, and volunteered for the Phoenixville Hospital Thrift Shop.
The middle of the 3 Glowacki girls, Jean was a special combination of qualities: tough when the situation required, yet ladylike; knowledgeable yet never haughty; strong yet gentle spirited; soft spoken; a kind soul.
Her friendships spanned ages and locations, and, no matter what the relationship, she was known as “Aunt Jean” to all. She was curious about current times, and when befuddled by the paths the world was taking she never shied from questions, no matter how delicate the topic. She wanted to be engaged in the times, and, in so doing, was tremendously engaging.
Family and church meant everything to Jean. Her signature dishes at gatherings will be sorely missed. (No one can duplicate her strawberry pie, grilled cheese sandwich, or lime jello salad, affectionately known as “nuke salad.”) She loved flowers, knitting, Lawrence Welk, “The Big Bank Theory,” and sweets. Her handmade Christmas stockings, Afghans, and sweaters (complete with a label, “From the knitting needles of Aunt Jean”) are treasures. She poured her love into those creations, and they are true emblems of her grace and kindness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 219 Dayton Street, Phoenixville, PA, on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11:00 am.
Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Phoenixville, PA.
Relatives and Friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00 am to 10:45 am.
