I read The Mercury’s editorial talking about the right to save lives after the Las Vegas mass shooting. They recommend taking commonsense measures on gun control. That’s fair but where is your editorial about saving the lives of the unborn? This year alone there were over a million abortions performed. Currently there is legislation in Congress to ban abortions after 20 weeks. Let’s start there.

I’m a female but I’m totally disgusted with these women who expose their breasts. It is up to the point that they are just about completely exposed and a male is not to be seen wearing his trousers and dungarees slightly below the waist. Talk about being biased. What kind of a society is this becoming? What example does this set for the young girls? Let’s cover them up.

One can only imagine where people of color would be if they didn’t have the likes of Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks taking a stand for what is morally right. Like the NFL players people marched for equality. How long will it take for someone in our government to take a stand for American people of color? If it takes the NFL and the NBA to make a change, so be it. Hawaiian Punch Party

Beware of phone calls being made claiming to be the IRS saying you owe them money and they want personal information plus your lawyer’s name and they will help you out and take care of what you owe the government, or they will have a warrant issued to pick you up. This is a big hoax. If you get the phone number call your local police department and report it. Don’t give any information, just hang up. And it’s usually somebody with an Indian accent.

This is for people who say you can’t buy automatic weapons. I just talked to a dealer and he said you can buy automatic weapons, as long as you have a federal permit which costs you $200, from private sales, from estates, from dealers. So the people who say you can’t buy automatic weapons, you’re wrong. Ask some dealers and go find out. Jay Miller

Kudos to the state attorneys going after the pharmaceuticals and doctors for pushing opioids. It is depraved indifference. Human carnage is what it is. They are the biggest enablers that exist. Legalized drug dealers. Crying

On Montgomery Street I didn’t know we were allowed to have a commercial vehicle sitting out here. We have hardly any room to park now as it is. It’s been sitting there for three months and has not moved and there’s also a trailer sitting near the Queen Street alley that has not been moved for three months. If they’re just going to sit on the street and take up parking somebody ought to find out about getting them removed because nobody’s driving them.

If we make guns illegal no one will ever get shot. That’s how we stopped everyone from taking drugs. Oh wait, that hasn’t worked at all. Jim Fitch
