Royersford: Meet Margeaux the Bobcat at Upper Schuylkill Valley Park, Route 113, at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, weather permitting. Visitors will learn about the habitat and diet of this beautiful, elusive animal while meeting the park’s resident bobcat. A hands-on activity will be included in the fun. This program is for children ages three to seven. There is a $2 per child suggested donation. Preregistr­ation is required by Wednesday, Oct. 18. Call 610-948-5170 to register.

South Coventry: A Mattress Fundraiser

is being hosted by the Owen J. Roberts High School marching band from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Owen J. Roberts Middle School, 881 Ridge Road. State-of-the-art adjustable bed frames, luxury pillows, box springs and a vast array of mattresses, including memory foam, along with friendly floor assistants to help. A 20-plus bed showroom will be set up filled with all sizes and styles. Name brands like Simmons Beautyrest, Malouf, Symbol and Tranquilit­y are available for up to 50 percent off retail prices.

Pottstown: A Festival of the Dog will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, at K-9 Cottage and A+ Obedience, 3208 W. Ridge Pike. This is a free community event. Rev. Brenton Thompson of Crossroads Presbyteri­an Church will be offering a Blessing of the Hounds at 11:30 a.m. Vendors and face painters and fun for all will fill the day. Proceeds to benefit the Heather Smiley Fund. There will also be a Chili Cook-Off. Compete against other local non-profession­al chefs for the honor of Beastivals Best Chili! There will be three categories for homemade: Vegetarian, Poultry or Beef. A $50 Costco Gift Card awarded to the winner of each category. Judging to be done by local chefs and restaurate­urs.
