Roy­ers­ford: Meet Margeaux the Bob­cat at Up­per Schuylkill Val­ley Park, Route 113, at 10 a.m. on Fri­day, Oct. 20, weather per­mit­ting. Vis­i­tors will learn about the habi­tat and diet of this beau­ti­ful, elu­sive an­i­mal while meet­ing the park’s res­i­dent bob­cat. A hands-on ac­tiv­ity will be in­cluded in the fun. This pro­gram is for chil­dren ages three to seven. There is a $2 per child sug­gested do­na­tion. Pre­reg­is­tra­tion is re­quired by Wed­nes­day, Oct. 18. Call 610-948-5170 to reg­is­ter.

South Coven­try: A Mat­tress Fundraiser

is be­ing hosted by the Owen J. Roberts High School march­ing band from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Satur­day, Oct. 21, at the Owen J. Roberts Mid­dle School, 881 Ridge Road. State-of-the-art ad­justable bed frames, lux­ury pil­lows, box springs and a vast ar­ray of mat­tresses, in­clud­ing mem­ory foam, along with friendly floor as­sis­tants to help. A 20-plus bed show­room will be set up filled with all sizes and styles. Name brands like Sim­mons Beau­tyrest, Malouf, Sym­bol and Tran­quil­ity are avail­able for up to 50 per­cent off re­tail prices.

Pottstown: A Fes­ti­val of the Dog will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Satur­day, Oct. 21, at K-9 Cot­tage and A+ Obe­di­ence, 3208 W. Ridge Pike. This is a free com­mu­nity event. Rev. Bren­ton Thomp­son of Cross­roads Pres­by­te­rian Church will be of­fer­ing a Bless­ing of the Hounds at 11:30 a.m. Ven­dors and face painters and fun for all will fill the day. Pro­ceeds to ben­e­fit the Heather Smi­ley Fund. There will also be a Chili Cook-Off. Com­pete against other lo­cal non-pro­fes­sional chefs for the honor of Beas­t­i­vals Best Chili! There will be three cat­e­gories for home­made: Veg­e­tar­ian, Poul­try or Beef. A $50 Costco Gift Card awarded to the win­ner of each cat­e­gory. Judg­ing to be done by lo­cal chefs and restau­ra­teurs. A $10 en­trance fee will be do­nated to the Heather Smi­ley Fund.
