Nouaime, Prince claim PAC Doubles championsh­ip

There wasn’t much that could slow down the pairing of Dina Nouaime and Tina Price on Saturday — not even a little earlymorni­ng rain.

After a several-hour rain delay held up play in the early morning, the No. 2-seeded Nouaime and Price went on to claim the Pioneer Athletic Conference girls tennis Doubles Championsh­ip at Perkiomen Valley.

The pairing from Methacton clipped Owen J. Roberts’ Elaina Lee and Jacey Caplan 7-5, 6-2 in the final set to claim the title.

Nouaime and Price opened the day with a 6-1, 6-4 win over third-place finisher Jasmine Mor-

ris and Nadja Townsend, from Perkiomen Valley, in the semifinal round.

Morris and Townsend then turned around and claimed a 7-5, 6-2 win over Methacton’s Air Louer and Karen Li in the third-place playoff.

In the fifth-place set, Erica Gratton and Vidisha Pandey, from Owen J. Roberts, claimed a 6-2, 4-6, 1210 win over Spring-Ford’s Maddy Morris and Lauren Ostermann.

METHACTON 1, SOUDERTON 0 » The Warriors wrapped up their unbeaten regular season with a close win against the Indians during a Play 4 The Cure Game.

Frankie Lucchesi accounted for the game’s lone goal, which came off a feed from Katy Benton during the first half as Methacton (18-0 overall) keeper Molley Frey came up with 11 saves in goal for the shutout. Souderton keeper Jordan Michalak made six saves. UNIONVILLE 3, OWEN J. ROBERTS 1 » The Indians did all their damage in the first half on the way to a PAC win over the Wildcats.

Bridget Guinan scored OJR’s lone goal off a feed from Sarah Garritano during the first half while Cassie Micklesava­ge made seven saves in the cage. Claire Donovan scored twice for Unionville while Annie McDonough added a goal in the win.

Boys soccer

POTTSGROVE 4, SPRINGFIEL­D-DELCO 1 » Ethan Pace had a hand in three goals in leading the Falcons to a non-conference win over the Cougars.

Pace scored twice and had an assist while Mike Sereny finished with a goal and an assist. Springfiel­d’s Colin McKean scored 10 minutes in, but ‘Grove settled in from there, scoring the next four goals. Kevin Michuku had a goal while Shane Gleason had an assist in front of Ryan Long’s eight-save showing in goal. HILL SCHOOL 5, HUN SCHOOL 1» The Blues scored twice in the opening 10 minutes and never looked back on their way to a Mid-Atlantic Prep League win over Hun School.

Greg Zimmerman scored unassisted in the third and tenth minutes, the second assisted by Ryan Wallace, who added two second half goals of his own. Euan Forrest scored once from Chase Clemens and assisted Wallace’s second goal. Matt Wasserman made six saves in goal. DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 2, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 0 » The Vikings were blanked in a non-conference matchup against the Whippets.

CUMBERLAND VALLEY 2, SPRING-FORD 1 » Alayna Gairo accounted for the Rams’ lone goal during a non-conference loss against the Eagles.

Girls volleyball

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 3, UNIONVILLE 0 » The Vikings picked up a non-conference win over the Indians in straight sets.

Set scores were 25-14, 2523 and 25-15. Sarah Straub had 10 kills and three aces, Helena Clauhs followed with nine kills and seven digs while Ellie Min rounded out the statsheet with 27 assists, seven digs, three aces and a pair of kills.

HILL SCHOOL 8, MERCERSBUR­G ACADEMY 0 » The Blues picked up a MAPL win over Mercersbur­g 18hole match-play competitio­n.

Drew Steinmetz dominated from the start, shooting 3-under on the front side and winning 10 consecutiv­e holes to claim the win as early as possible. Hunter Ramée and Echo Wu both claimed wins on the final hole while JP Irizarry won the first five holes ont he back-nine to claim the win.

The Hill travels to Gulph Mills Country Club for the second time in as many weeks on Monday, this time to face Inter-Ac powerhouse Haverford School.

Boys cross country

HILL SCHOOL 20, HUN SCHOOL 43 » The Blues spotted Hun’s Martin Adams the race win, then placed in the next seven spots to seal the Mid-Atlantic Prep League victory.

Austin Vincent led the Hill pack with his secondplac­e (18:14) finish behind Adams’ 18:08 clocking. Tucker Dunn (18:39), Kyle Gorant (18:44), Shahzaib Umer (18:55) and Jamie Olsen (19:09) went 3-4-5-6 for the Hill, with Reed Bauer (19:10) a close seventh.
