Edith P. McCarthy, 90, of South Coventry
Edith P. (Pearson) McCarthy, 90, of South Coventry Township, Pottstown, wife of Charles J. McCarthy, died Thursday at her residence.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she was a daughter of the late Harold F. and Mary E. (Smith) Pearson.
Mrs. McCarthy attended Immaculata University and graduated from West Chester State College with a degree in education. She received her masters degree from Villanova University. She was employed as a teacher with Owen J. Roberts School District, retiring in the early 1980’s. Mrs. McCarthy was a member of the former Junior Service League. She was active with many charitable organizations throughout Pottstown.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, John P. Lloyd and his wife Arlene, Avon, CT; Mark C. Lloyd and his wife Susan T., Pottstown; step daughters, Michelle wife of Burton Schaeffer, Hamburg, Patricia wife of Douglass Lenhart, Pottstown, Colleen wife of Vincent Finazzo, Bensalem; Grandchildren, John, Beverly, Mary Kate and David; step grandchildren, Lisa, Burton, Jennifer, Jessica, Colleen, Vince, Michael, Alexis; great grandchildren, Emily, Madelyn, Joseph, Patrick and Haley; stepgreat grandchildren, Dillon, Mason, and Teagan.
A memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. on Friday Oct. 20, 2017 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2101 Pottstown Pike, Pottstown. Officiating will be Father Edward Brady. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Pottstown. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday at the church.
