Mayza’s two-goal showing lifts Hill past GA

Bridget Mayza got The Hill School girls’ soccer team payback Wednesday.

Mayza’s two-goal showing helped the Blues avenge their loss to GA in the 2016 PAISAA Tournament by topping their non-league hosts, 4-3. Georgia King and Caroline Soderman had other goals for the Hill, which saw Mayza’s second tally with four minutes left in the game secure the victory.

Goalkeeper Marah Krick earned her first start of the season, she and Addie Paulson finished the game with five saves each. That was in complement to creative and dynamic midfield play by both Susanna and Caroline Soderman.

Boys soccer

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 3, DANIEL BOONE 1» First-half goals by Matt McCabe and Mike Weir got the Vikings started toward their nonleague victory over the Blazers. Declan Loughney added an unassisted tally in the 52nd minute, after Boone got its lone goal from Peter Scott in the 26th minute. Brian Love and Sebasdtian Leyes were credited with PV assists.

WOODLYNDE 143, PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 147 » The Panthers were outshot by Woodlynde School in a Tri-County League match played at Shannondel­l Golf Club.

Leading scorers for Perkiomen were Zach Smith at 45, Ben Griffaton at 47 and Thomas Dormer at 55. HILL SCHOOL 241, HAVERFORD SCHOOL 246 » Hunter Ramee’ took low-man honors in the match while leading the Blues to a non-league victory over Haverford School at Gulph Mills Golf Club.

Ramee’ shot a below-par 34, but teammate Jack Murray was one stroke back at 35.

Girls volleyball

BOYERTOWN 3, OWEN J. ROBERTS 0 » The Bears won Tuesday’s Pioneer Athletic Conference match with the Wildcats by set scores of 25-20, 2520 and 25-21.

Statistica­l stars for Boyertown were Mikayla Johnson (nine kills, three aces, seven digs), Jordyn Chambers (one kill, 13 assists, one block, two digs) and Michelle Frank (five kills, one assist, seven digs). Phoenixvil­le won the third and fourth Phoenixvil­le’s statistica­l leaders were Kayla Grammersto­rf (20 kills, seven blocks, four digs), Alex Poloway three aces, seven kills, 13 digs) and Keara Hennessey (four kills, 42 assists, two blocks, 15 digs).

HILL SCHOOL 16, PENN CHARTER 10 » The Blues built a 7-2 first-quarter lead and never looked back on the way to their non-league victory over Penn Charter.

Michael Schiavone scored seven goals while classmate Alfonso Mestre notched a hat trick. Ben Roth scored a pair while Patrick Dunn, Walter Lehneis, Thomas Stone and Robert Twombly each contribute­d a goal. Dunn, Mestre, and Max Moore evenly split nine assists. Dunn also stole four. and Yeob Kim saved five while Bill Wang turned away two.
