“The Walking Dead” — As Season 8 of the zombie sensation begins, it’s time for all-out war. With the support of the Hilltop and Kingdom, Rick Grimes and his fellow survivors are finally ready to stand up to Negan’s ruthless forces. So it seems that things are about to get bloody brutal. There will be casualties, of course, but perhaps the Saviors’ grip on this world may finally be coming to an end. The season opener is also the series’ landmark 100th episode. 9 p.m. Sunday, AMC.

In what has become a Halloween-time tradition, “The Simpsons” present the 28th “Treehouse of Horror” special. This time, Maggie becomes possessed by an ancient demon, Lisa discovers a creepy/perfect version of her family in an alternate universe and Homer cannibaliz­es himself. 8 p.m., Fox.

Reunited at last! After decades apart, Jamie and Claire finally rekindle their emotional and physical bonds on “Outlander.” It’s a super-sized, 74-minute episode because, well, these romantic reunions take time. 8 p.m., Starz.

You may have heard that Jamie Lee Curtis is set to appear in a “Halloween” reboot next year. Now here’s your chance to see her again in the 1978 film that launched the horror franchise. It’s part of the annual “FearFest” film festival. 9:30 p.m., AMC.
