Milton Edwin Yohn, 88, of Keystone Villa, Douglassvi­lle and formerly of South Keim St., Pottstown, husband of 65 years to Helen Ruth (Gentner) Yohn of Douglassvi­lle, PA, died Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Keystone Villa, Douglassvi­lle.

Born in Pottstown, PA, he was the son of the late Milton Eagle Yohn and Mary (Schatz) Yohn.

Mr. Yohn was a graduate of Pottstown High School. He was the owner of the former M.E. Yohn & Son Heating and Air Conditioni­ng of Pottstown and Penn Mobil Distributo­rs Inc. of Collegevil­le. He developed and operated Collegevil­le Self Storage in Collegevil­le, PA. Mr. Yohn was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and was a former council member. He was also a member of the Pottstown Elks Club, United Investment Club, and the Tri-County Dealer’s Associatio­n.

Milton’s father started in the coal business at Pottstown Landing in the early 1930s. Throughout the years they purchased various coal and oil businesses, moving several times, and eventually establishi­ng M. E. Yohn and Son at the 120-acre Yohn Homestead on Manatawny St. In 1956, The Pottstown Mercury described the merger of M. E. Yohn and Son and S. Clouse and Son as the oldest and largest coal company in Pottstown. Following the selling of his business in 1990, Milton developed the Collegevil­le Self Storage site. He also owned one of the earliest pager towers, which then became the home of several national cellular carriers. He eventually sold the Homestead, which became Manatawny Village and Upland Square Shopping Center.

Following retirement he and his wife traveled the United States and overseas. They loved road trips with extended family. They enjoyed the Poconos and boating on Lake Wallenpaup­ack. Milton’s hobby for many years was researchin­g his family’s genealogy.

Surviving in addition to his wife are five daughters, Wendy, wife of Robert W. Hallman III, Pottstown; Karen wife of Eugene Mack, Vero Beach, FL; Leslie, wife of Walter DePrefonta­ine Jr., Pottstown; Alison, wife of Benton Levengood, Reading; and Carolyn wife of Michael Lansenderf­er, Lehighton. He is also survived by his grandchild­ren, Alexander, Drew (Veronica), Lukus, Magan (Daniel), Sean (Patricia), Cory (Mark), Connor and Jessica; and great-grandchild­ren, Elly, Myah, Jacob, Mark Jr., Rylan, Mackayla and Logan. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Edwina Yohn, and a half-brother, John Gleason.

Funeral services and viewing will be private for the family. Burial will be in Pottstown Cemetery West.
