F. Arnold Markowitz

-

F. Arnold Markowitz, formerly of Pottstown, PA and Miami, FL, passed away peacefully at Night N. Gail Assisted Living in Albuquerque, NM where he had been residing.

Born in Pottstown, PA, he was a son of the late Jacob and Marion (Nimberger) Markowitz.

Arnold was a graduate of the Pottstown High School. He worked for 30 years for Howard S. Reeder, Inc. of Miami, FL as a customs broker. (Import/Export Business). In his earlier years, he helped his father in their grocery business in Pottstown – Markowitz and Son. They were known to have instituted the chocolate frozen banana pop as a delight.

Arnold was always a person you could count on in a time of need. He remembered anniversaries, birthdays, random historical dates and all stories from prior to his birth to the present day. His mind was sharp, his heart intuitive and his soul generous. He enjoyed walking and reading and connecting with his loved ones. He devoted his life to Hashem and his observance brought him comfort. He loved a good joke and loved to laugh.

There was a love so deep in his heart for Pottstown. He always felt that Pottstown was his home and he never abandoned his dream to live the rest of his days in this little town. He was devastated that he could not return to his birthplace as his body was too weak to travel.

Survivors include one niece, Sharon Levin; grand nieces, Sara Levin, Brichta and Maya Lessen; great grand nephews, Ariel Brichta and Asher Lessen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Irvin M. Markowitz and sisters, Regina Heyman and Catherine Markowitz.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017 at the Congregation Mercy & Truth Cemetery, Prospect and Hanover streets, Pottstown, PA. Rabbi Ira Flax will officiate.
