Mrs. Shirley Jean Davis (Yergey), 82

Mrs. Shirley Jean Davis (Yergey) of Pottstown, PA, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017 at the age of 82.

Shirley was born to parents Wilmer Yergey and Martha Brightbill on December 12, 1934 in Pottstown, PA. She grew up as the second eldest of 10 children and attended Pottstown area schools.

Shirley lived her entire life in Pottstown, PA. She worked at several companies over the years, the last being Wagner-Electric in Boyertown, PA, where she retired from in 1998.

She was an accomplished bowler and attended many tournaments that allowed her to travel across the country. She also loved to go golfing with family on Sundays. She hosted many family card nights as well as Christmas Eve parties that were enjoyed by her entire family. Her love for the Philadelphia Phillies also led her to travel to different cities to watch them play.

Shirley is survived by her 6 children, Paul Jr. husband of Susan (Searfoss), Barry, Terri, Donna (Dee), Russell husband of Kim (Hurter) & Brian Davis; her sisters; Joanne (Joy) Nichols, Irene Snyder, Phyllis Stone, Darlene Bumbarger and her brother, John (Jack) Yergey; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Davis; her parents, Wilmer Yergey and Martha Brightbill; her sister, Donna Gonder; her brothers, William (Bill), Bruce and Kenneth (Kenny) Yergey and daughter in law Jeanne Davis (Kline), wife of Barry Davis.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will take place on November 4, 2017 from 1 – 4 PM at her daughter Terri’s home, located at 2524 Swamp Pike Pottstown, PA. The family is grateful for the condolences, but declines flowers. Donations can be made to an Alzheimer’s/ Dementia charity of your choice.
