Perkiomen Valley Art Center announces award winners

The Perkiomen Valley Art Center is pleased to announce the award winners for the 62nd Open Juried Exhibition at the Hill School Boyer Gallery, 760 Beech Street. The exhibition runs from through Dec. 8. The gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and by appointmen­t on Saturdays and Sundays. A reception for the artists and public will be Sunday, Nov. 5, from 2 to 5 p.m. The following awards will be presented that day at 4 p.m.:

Best of Show to Martin Wigg for oil painting “That Look.”

Barndt Agency Award to Amy Schade for acrylic painting “Jive.”

Harleysvil­le Savings Bank Award to Susannah Hart Thomer for watercolor “Forest Fantasy.”

Oils and Acrylics: First Prize to Debra Yerger for “Vernfield Sunset;” Second Prize to Lynn Millar for “Turkey Flats;” Third Prize to Lee Muslin for “Sunset in the Valley;” Honorable Mention to R. Sassaman for “Cannon Hill.”

Watercolor­s: First Prize to Jane deGruchy for “Reflection­s;” Seocnd Prize to Laurel Arbogast for” One Step Beyond;” Third Prize to Diane Kunze for “Morning at Ghost Ranch;” Honorable Mention to Cindy Healy for “Summer Sights.”

Pastels: First Prize to Cathy Grygiel for “Fire & Ice;” Second Prize to Paulette Staley for “Cittia Di Lucca;” Third prize to Joanne Turner for “Divine Energy;” Honorable Mention to Rebecca Denneny for “Sunset at Thornbury.”

Graphics: First Prize to Edward McCarty for “Wild Creek;: Second Prize to Katherine L. Wince for “And so…good night;” Third Prize to David W. Thomas for “21 August 2017;” Honorable Mention to Deborah Nyman for “A Walk in the Reeds.”

Sculpture: First Prize to Philip A. Smith for “DT’s Dance;” Honorable Mention to Bob Hakun for “The Last Wash Day.”

The Perkiomen Valley Art Center is a nonprofit volunteer group promoting fine arts in this region and providing encouragem­ent to local artists through educationa­l programs, art exhibits, awards for excellence in the arts, and awards for area high school art students. All programs and art exhibits are free and membership is open to all.
