Interesting editorial about not letting mass shootings seem normal but let me ask you if an unborn baby is not safe in the womb, how can any of us be expected to be safe in school or church or anywhere else for that matter?

The media declined to tie the collapse of our housing market and subsequent recession to mortgage lending practices endorsed by then-Senator Obama. His holdovers are now perpetuating this ruinous formula by compelling credit agencies to purge the negative from credit histories and reducing down payments for the high risk to 3 percent. Mark Furlong

Wow, front page of The Mercury on Wednesday, day after elections — Democrats sweep, Democrats win all four seats, Democrats win. Turn to page 3 — Democrats win, Democrats sweep Virginia and New Jersey. This is because of Donald Trump period.

Drivers, use caution on Prospect Street between Adams and Washington streets. There is always a trailer parked on Prospect Street that blocks the views of cars turning onto Prospect. Slow down and use caution.

Thank you Jay Miller for offering this deplorable a box of tissues. All markets have been depleted due to crying liberals. Martha

On Wednesday the cartoonist’s take on page A4 is absolutely terrible. How anyone could try to make a joke about mass shootings is shameful. Patricia L. “The View” is a joke. One-sided, biased is the only way to look at it.

Donald Trump said the shooting in Texas was a mental health issue. Women have mental health issues also and you don’t see them shooting people. It’s an automatic weapons’ issue. Jay Miller

To the person who said that President Trump said that there would be a big tax cut for Christmas and that he should have instead said that it would be for the holidays, don’t you realize that without Christ there would be no holiday? Christmas is the holiday. Without Christ there is no holiday.

Now that Mayor Thomas is out as mayor hopefully with the new mayor-elect Stephanie Henrick she can bring some fresh new ideas on how to bring Pottstown back to it’s heyday. Since Mayor Thomas has served two terms, not consecutively, I hope there’s something on the books that you’re only allowed to serve two terms consecutively or not. Reedy

Lady Di, you talk about President Obama. Have you ever really looked at Trump’s behavior? Even when he was a young Trump, it’s a fact that he refused to rent his apartments to African Americans. During the campaign he called the other candidates names like a 12-year-old. He had words with a Gold Star family. He made fun of a reporter with Parkinson’s. He antagonizes the leader of North Korea — Rocket man? Now he was rude to a grieving widow. Clark S. Kent It’s amazing how the shape of your body changes as you age. The last time I saw my doctor she said “The pain in your chest wasn’t a heart attack, it was your belt buckle.” Jim Fitch

The cartoon on Wednesday about the mass shooting specials at the florist shop was in very poor taste. This is too soon after the shooting or even at any time to make fun of such a sad, sad situation.

I’m not a Penn State fan. In fact one of my favorite college football teams is whoever is playing Penn State on game day but I have to admire the head coach where he made his players go back out and shake hands after the game on Saturday after they lost because they ran into the locker room. Now Coach, let’s see you put the American flag back on your helmets like you used to have it.

For the caller who asked what happened to Greta Van Susteren, she is trying to be a volunteer on the radio station “Voice of America” but she posted that she’s having trouble filling out all the requirements as far as the application form. Voice of America is the U.S. government-run radio network that is mostly listened to by people who live abroad in Europe, etc. For right now she’s off the air and she doesn’t know if she’s going to continue the intensive process.
